19 years ago, Yoifer was born on May. His birth coincided with the annual celebration of the festivities of Baru, which means life, culture, and history for the native population.
“Being born in May for me is like a birthmark, because since I can remember, every time is my birthday, the town changes. They paint the Church, they baptize all the small children, the school gives lectures about the town’s history and folk groups performs.
All of this has made me curious, and this is why I like to read a lot, investigate, ask if I have doubts and never keep for me the desire of doing something. This has made me learn a lot and tell a lot of stories. Did you know that Baru used to be a peninsula? The “Dique” canal made it an island!” says Yoifer.
And so, Yoifer's genuine personality made him enroll in the Hosting Service Technician program, even though his friends told him he shouldn't do it because women are the ones who usually study this career. However, although he was the only male in his study group, with his great character and personality, Yoifer showed that careers have no gender, and that perspective is everything. “With this career I can not only be a house keeper, I can also be a bellman, an area supervisor and much more. I can be anything I want to be” he says with great confidence.
