1. Implementation progress
(1) In 2024, Xinyi Summer Camp has supported 294 volunteers from 21 themed camp college teams to carry out related activities, and provided 1,946 rural children with 12-day psychological courses using the "Confident Journey" mental literacy course independently developed by Rici, with 35,280 hours of volunteer service.
2Xinyi Plan evaluates the course effect through the form of pre and post test questionnaire. In 2024, 1257 pre - and post-test questionnaires were collected, of which 1185 were valid, with an effective recovery rate of 94.3%. By comparing the scores of the self-esteem scale in the pre - and post-test questionnaires, the results showed that the scores of the students in the post-test questionnaires were higher than those in the pre-test questionnaires, and the difference between the scores in the pre - and post-test questionnaires reached a statistically significant difference (t = -13.116, p <.001), indicating that the self-esteem level of the students had been significantly improved after attending the summer camp.
2. Project story
Let's take a look at the story sharing of Kung Fu Panda Teacher project from Communication University of China - Little Poplar Volunteer Teaching Team
"I want to say to you."
This summer, I had the honor to enter the central primary school of Pingxiang Town, Pingxiang City, Guangxi Province, and the children who are located in the "south gate" of the motherland spent a short time that is enough to let me recall my life. The bright sunshine, the blue sky, and the pure smiling faces of the children together build the most beautiful picture in my heart.
When I first met the children, their eyes full of expectation and curiosity were like the purest spring water, flowing, and gently opened the door in the depths of my heart. I started this dialogue with their hearts. In the interest class, I tried to lead them to capture the beautiful moments in life with "lens", led them to learn the writing method of "shooting", and inspired them to try to present the "little stories" hidden in their hearts with video.
Whenever I share these little photography tips with children, I am always moved by their seriousness and focus. Seeing them carefully adjust the camera parameters, calmly press the shutter, the "light and shadow" of that moment is frozen in the picture, as if the whole world has become quiet and beautiful. In those photos, there are the morning dew on the summer branches, the hard-working teachers, and the students with bright smiles - these pictures are like poems and songs, showing their love for life and yearning for beauty in their hearts.
When I talk about how to tell a story with a video camera, I see a sparkle in the eyes of children who can't wait to tell their story through the camera. In particular, I was shocked by the short film about campus bullying taken by the students of our class "Village chatting old aunt" group. They use young but real lens language, with the child's vision deeply revealed the seriousness and heavy of this "social issue". The video pictures taken by the children, like a mirror, reflect the pursuit of justice and kindness in the hearts of the children.
As a college student volunteer, I feel that my "emotions" have also quietly grown during this journey. When the class is over, the children always gather around me happily, sharing their photos and talking about the little fun things in life. Those casual smiles and playfulness, those tacit cooperation before and after the camera, quietly narrowed the distance between us.
I still remember that when they stood in front of their works and proudly introduced their creative process to everyone, my heart was filled with indescribable touching and gratifying. Their works, like a bright pearl, in the sun emit a unique brilliance.
During this time, the children also taught me how to observe the world with more pure eyes and how to find the beauty of life from the tiny details. What they record with the lens is not only the changes of "light and shadow", but also their deep love and dedication to life.
Although the summer camp has ended, but those children's bright smiling faces, focused eyes, still deep in my mind. Their stories have become the warmest and best memories of my life and will be cherished in my heart forever.
Once again, thank you for your generous support. Your contributions enable us to sustain our charitable initiatives and empower more rural children to build resilience against adversity.
