Rici Foundation has completed the recruitment of the curriculum package for the spring semester of the SEL Curriculum over the last two months. By February 29th, 539 individual teachers had applied for it, and 457 had passed the review. It is expected to provide SEL Curriculums for 38,488 rural children. Curriculum packages began to be distributed one by one in mid-February, with rural teachers expected to receive them in mid-March. Rici Foundation will continue to monitor each teacher's curriculum.

We provide more support for rural teachers in addition to course packages. In February, Rici team provided offline training courses on mental health education to 224 rural teachers in Nanning, Guangxi, Lanzhou, Gansu, Yongzhou, Hunan, and Puyang, Henan. The course content included theoretical knowledge such as the fundamental characteristics of children's physiological and psychological development, as well as Rici team's teaching demonstration class. Furthermore, Rici team focuses on the self-development of rural teachers and supports the self-awareness and spiritual growth of 331 teachers through reading clubs.

The development of rural teachers' abilities will be a significant boost to children's growth.As the 2022 course came to an end, a child from JingYang, Shanxi, wrote down what he had attained in this year: "Let joy embrace you,let difficult impress you, I trust you'll use your indomite to shield you from the fierce wind and sun on the road."

We share the moment about the children become powerful in their mental world. The children you had supported learning how to solve the problem by their own, struggled to achive the goal, leart relax when they're tired, become themselve peaceful and bravely faced their circumstances and challenges.

197,235 Rural Children have received SEL Curriculum in China,thanks to your support!

Near the end of the 2022, Rici Team collected teachers from Hainan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Xinjiang and other places to answer why SEL Curriculum was carried out.

In addition to teaching SEL Curriculum , these teachers are also responsible for teaching children's Chinese, English, geography, science and other subjects. In daily teaching, they found that some children's learning status or habits are not very good, some children encounter psychological troubles due to intergenerational education, and some students are introverted, irritable or depressed...

Mr Zhu, a teacher from Sichuan, said after conducting SEL Curriculum for students, "Our school has no professional psychological teachers and no psychological related courses. However, there are a lot of left-behind children in schools, and some of them are even in an unsupervised state. Some children are introverted and never communicate with others, some students are irritable and irritable, and some students are depressed and always unhappy... I hope to carry out psychological courses. In the SEL Curriculum , children can open their hearts and grow up actively and happily, regardless of test scores or homework completion! "

SEL Curriculum, which is student-centered, creates a safe and friendly classroom atmosphere for children, so that more children dare to express themselves and relax, and learn emotional management, self-awareness and interpersonal relationships in experiential classroom activities. More children can be paid attention to and seen, and teachers can also know their diverse aspects, helping them improve their social emotional ability and grow up happily!

Your donations have directly affected the Rural Children in China and changed them for the better.

Together with you, our project covers 25 provincial administrative regions in China, supports 3,340 teachers, and provides SEL Curriculum for 197,235 rural children,despite the impact of COVID-19.The areas with a large number of students covered by the project are Hunan, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Chongqing, Henan, Guangxi and Guangdong.

A child gave up the idea of revenge

In the new semester, when students wrote their expectations for classes and themselves, Xiaorui wrote the heavy and worrying word on the Post-it note: "Revenge".

After class, Ms Zhu learned about Xiaorui's past. When he was in primary school, his movements were slow and he couldn't keep up with the rhythm of his classmates. As a result, he was ridiculed and sarcastic, and no one encouraged and comforted him. Finally, Xiaorui had deep grievances in his heart and had the idea of "revenge".

"As teachers, we should encourage him more, lead the students to help him get out of the psychological shadow of" revenge ", and make his mentality positive and sunny. "Ms Zhu thought.

In class, Ms Zhu always encourages Xiaorui to speak actively. If he can't answer, Ms Zhu will give him more time and tips to think. When Xiaorui is brave enough to share his thoughts, Ms Zhu would ask his classmates to applaud him; When Xiaorui's "oversimple" question was ridiculed by his classmates, Ms Zhu immediately explained it to him with a straight face.

After a period of time, Xiaorui changed. He began to take the initiative to help his classmates. When he saw his friends walk to the door, he would take the initiative to open the door for them. In English class, he was able to stand confidently on the platform to do exercises, which was praised by Ms Zhu. In the psychology class, Xiaorui once again wrote down his expectation: "Live happily".

September, Rici Foundation approved 527 teachers' applications for autumn semester program, which is expected to support 38,681 rural students to learn social-emotional learning skills and help them grow better. In addition to distributing teaching materials and teaching aids, we also carry out relevant teacher training to help teachers make better use of teaching materials and teaching aids.
