On behalf of everyone at the Rici Foundation, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation to the "SEL Curriculum for Rural Children in China" project. In 2023, your contribution enabled us to make significant progress in our mission to support the mental health and well-being of rural children across China. With your support, we were able to provide SEL Curriculum training to 1,577 rural teachers and impact the lives of 89,850 students in areas such as Jianghua Yao Autonomous County, Jingyang County in Shaanxi Province, and Zhenyuan County in Guizhou Province.

In 2023, your contribution enabled us to make significant progress in our mission to support the mental health and well-being of rural children across China. With your support, From March to July, we were able to provide SEL Curriculum training to 1,577 rural teachers and impact the lives of 89,850 students in areas such as Jianghua Yao Autonomous County, Jingyang County in Shaanxi Province, and Zhenyuan County in Guizhou Province.

Furthermore, in August, thanks to the expertise and collaboration of experts and scholars, we were able to enhance and publish an improved version of the SEL Curriculum. This allowed us to extend our reach and provide essential training to 1,634 rural teachers in various regions, benefitting a total of 96,477 children.

We've received touching feedback from Mr. Ma which from Gansu Province, shared how the curriculum empowered them to deliver impactful lessons. Students showed remarkable progress in discovering their strengths and confidence.Additionally, in 2023, we developed the campus activities, which were implemented in 22 rural schools across provinces like Hunan, Gansu, Yunnan, and others. These activities aim to foster self-confidence, emotional regulation, and interpersonal skills among students, creating a supportive environment for their psychological growth.

Your continued support is invaluable to us, and we are committed to utilizing your donation to ensure that more rural children in China have access to vital mental health education. The funds you have graciously provided will enable us to deliver SEL Curriculum training to 96,477 children between March and July 2024.

430,000+ Kids Impacted: Your Generosity

Thank you for your continuous attention and support to the public welfare projects of the "SEL Curriculum for Rural Children in China" project.With your support, the Rici team has achieved outstanding milestones over the past few months. We are thrilled to share our progress with you.

As of July 2023, Rici team has mobilized rural teachers, providing the opportunity for more than 430,000 rural children to experience our mental literacy curriculum.

On August 21, 2023, Rici Foundation released the latest revised version of SEL Curriculum. We have partnered with a publishing house to make this curriculum officially available, making it more rigorous and suitable for use in school settings.

The newly revised curriculum is designed for rural children and teenagers in grades 1-9. It takes a preventative approach, views students from a strengths perspective, and uses engaging methods such as games, crafts, drawing, role-play, and group discussions to make learning enjoyable. The focus is on developing 19 key mental growth competencies across six domains: self-growth, emotional management, relationship development, social awareness, self-directed learning, and autonomous decision-making. Ultimately, this curriculum will empower rural children and teenagers for positive development in the future.

On August 30, 2023, we officially opened applications for the 2023 fall semester of the SEL Curriculum. As of September, we have recruited 663 rural teachers who will bring mental health education to 42,188 students. We will continue to keep you updated on the latest developments and achievements of the "SEL Curriculum for Rural Children in China" project.

Let the children live their dreams and hopes

Thank you for your continuous attention and support to the public welfare projects of Rici Foundation. In June, the two projects of the Flourish Magic School and the Ignite Project promoted a lot of work and achieved a lot of results.

Recruitment for the 2023 Summer Vacation teacher study Tour started on June 11. A total of 144 teachers applied for the study tour, and 64 qualified teachers were selected. From July 11 to July 14, 2023, the camp will combine applied drama, life narrative, and expressive arts therapy to explore the three themes of interpersonal communication, emotional awareness, and self-development.

The fifth edition of the Teachers' Book Club was launched on May 26, 2023, with the book "Talking to Children". The reading club was officially launched on June 3 and closed on June 11. A total of 110 teachers signed up to participate in the project. Teachers' Book Club is conducive to activating the teacher community and improving the theoretical knowledge reserve of the project teachers in the fields of mental health and home-school co-education.

On June 11 and 12, the project staff visited Chongqing Wuxi, visited a total of 5 schools, listened to 5 spiritual literacy courses and conducted teaching and research. During this visit, we learned about the teacher's difficulties and obstacles in the course of starting the course. During the teaching and research process after the course began, Rici Foundation not only encouraged the teacher to start the course, but also discussed some specific skills to enhance the teacher's confidence in starting the course.

Finally, we have recorded and live volunteer training courses online. Three offline training activities were also carried out in Chengdu, Shanghai and Qingdao, and the university students who participated in the training said that they had gained a lot.

This month, Rici Foundation has further contacts and links with rural teachers and college volunteers, and in these contacts, we also truly feel everyone's trust and support for Rici. It is these solid and firm forces that will enable Rici to go further and longer on the road of public welfare, and we hope to have more partners to join us and walk hand in hand with us.

In July and August, teams of student volunteers from the Ignite Project will travel from all over the country to the countryside to meet with our children and conduct summer camp activities full of fun and knowledge. Let's look forward to the blossoming of the flowers of the heart!
