A Year of Achievements with Les Amis de Hampaté Bâ
Every year, Les Amis de Hampaté Bâ builds new stones into a pyramid of success, supporting young girls from disadvantaged backgrounds so they can rise step by step toward a brighter future. This pyramid is not built with bricks, but with education, care, mentoring, and the tireless commitment of an entire community.
During the 2024–2025 school year, our association celebrated a series of successes that show how investment in education and solidarity can change lives. The path is not always easy, but when support is given at the right moment—whether through tuition, food, tutoring, health care, or guidance—the results shine through.
Step One: Success at School
At the base of the pyramid, we find the joyful faces of our scholarship girls at Hampaté Bâ Middle and High School. The end of the 2024–2025 school year brought excellent news: the girls passed their exams and moved on to the next grade levels. Many even ranked among the very top of their classes.
These results were not achieved by chance. They are the fruit of innovative teaching methods, daily meals that ensure concentration, tutoring sessions organized by the association, and above all, the motivation that comes when students feel believed in. Each girl’s success strengthens the foundation of our pyramid and paves the way for higher education opportunities.
Step Two: Triumph at University
Climbing higher, the pyramid reveals individual stories of courage. One of the brightest is Aichatou, a determined student who earned her Bachelor’s degree in Law despite facing a severe eye condition. Thanks to timely medical intervention, funded glasses, and ongoing medicine provided by the association, she was able to continue her studies without interruption.
Her perseverance was rewarded not only with academic success, but also with a prestigious internship at the High Court this summer. This opportunity was made possible through the recommendation of Farida, a former scholarship student and long-time member of the Hampaté Bâ family, who herself completed an internship at the same High Court.
This story illustrates the strength of our community: each girl who climbs higher extends her hand to the one coming after her. Solidarity is the mortar holding our pyramid together.
Step Three: Professional Success
At the top of the pyramid, we proudly celebrate Farida’s remarkable achievement. An orphan and scholarship recipient since 2011, she has just completed her Master’s studies and secured her very first professional position. She has been selected to work with international directors in the field of global money transfers, a promising career that reflects both her talent and her perseverance.
Farida’s journey is proof that education, when combined with encouragement and mentoring, can break cycles of poverty and open doors to international opportunities. Her success also serves as a powerful example for younger scholarship students: with commitment and support, dreams can become reality.
A Pyramid Still Growing
The successes of 2024–2025 are not endpoints, but milestones in an ongoing story. With every girl who advances in school, every student who overcomes obstacles at university, and every graduate who steps into the professional world, the pyramid grows taller.
This collective achievement belongs to the girls, to their families, to their teachers, and to every supporter of Les Amis de Hampaté Bâ. Together, we are constructing a lasting monument of education, solidarity, and hope—one that will continue to rise for generations to come.
Each stone we add to the pyramid is not just a success for one girl, but a victory for her family, her community, and the future of Niger.
The Essential Role of Donors
All these achievements are only possible thanks to the generosity of our donors. Each scholarship, each tutoring class, each medical treatment, and each opportunity for advancement is a direct result of their support. To keep building this pyramid of success and to help even more girls reach their potential, we depend on continued donations. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a real difference in transforming lives and creating a brighter future.
