Dear Supporters,
On January 12th, we started the new childcare project in Puerto Morelos using donations, volunteers and partners who have integrated in their educational routines to the new people and technology.
SDG #4 Quality Education, The GVI Trust donations to educational equipment for Save the Children ludoteca in Puerto Morelos has been important. It is improving the quality of the lessons delivered as children now have physical education classes integrating music to their yoga, dancing and cardio lessons using a new speaker that staff can connect to their phones via Bluetooth.
The lessons that GVI volunteers use are clear and deliverable because of the 43” HD SMART TV. This new educational resource gives them the opportunity to share films with the rest of the students on designated days. Since it is a SMART TV, we are aiming to provide internet service in the future which will let them play educational material from You Tube or other platforms.
The Ludoteca is receiving an average of 15 children every day, but there have been over 40 participants on specific events. The participation numbers include parents, staff, volunteers and of course children which is currently over the capacity of the facilities for appropriate activities.
Therefore, we will initiate fundraising for the construction and expansion of new areas. At this time, due to our table donation, children now have a place to have their lunch, do homework or hold meetings to discuss their week plan and select subjects they are interested in.
SDG # 17 Partnerships for the Goals, During April 2019, our partners Planned Pethood International Mexico attended to the Save the Children ludoteca to talk about the responsible ownership of pets. This was a great opportunity
to educate the community about being responsible owners and adopting pets over buying them, and to increase collaboration in between local organizations in Puerto Morelos.
Stay tuned to our projects in Mexico for the follow up of our fundraising event that aims to provide sports equipment, construction and internet service for a year.
With gratitude,
Mexico Childcare
