Dear Our Partners
Infrastructure development remains our key priority for Magaya Primary School after some school classrooms and teachers houses were destroyed by hailstorm in 2008. Through your support over the past (3) three years we have managed to contribute to this worth cause by constructing two classroom blocks with each block having two classrooms plus (2) two offices for teachers. We celebrate that 80% of of the work has been covered to date and 400 students enrolled at the school have hope for a better school that will make them achieve their educational goes.
It is however with a heavy heart that we share with you that for the period of June 2016 to February 2017, there was no any major work that was done towards the completion of the project due to limited financial support. With the dire shortage of classrooms at the school; the incomplete classrooms in their state are already being used by ECD learners. The Deputy Headmaster at the school, Mr Jaji had this to say “I came at Magaya Primary School in 2012 and the whole school had only 3 functional blocks with each block having any average of 3 classrooms. This made the delivery of lessons difficult as more than 60 school kids were squeezed in one room and the school ended up introducing hot seating so that we can have manageable classes. The building of these 2 classroom blocks came as a big relief not for us the teachers but for the school students as a whole and with the acute shortage of learning space at the school, we have seen it better to use the incomplete classrooms. However, the classes in their current incomplete state are not child friendly as they have a lot of dust because they are not floored and also they are not yet glazed. We continue to appeal for Rozaria Memorial Trust and its partners to support us to complete this project”.
The 20% incomplete work at the school include inside plastering, flooring, glazing and inside and outside painting for the 2 classroom blocks. The total cost to see off this project is $3000,00 for 150 bags of cement and to contribute towards labour. The community has already supplied the required pitsand and riversand for the work.
We know that with your support, our target of 30 June 2017 to complete this project will be a reality and we can then officially handover the classes to the school and the community. Thank you for your contributions over the years, we dedicate progress that has been recorded to date to your support. Lets walk the last mile together and bring smiles to the children of Magaya Primary School
