Dear Magaya Primary Development Partner
Early Childhood Development learning is a critical stage in the growth and human development of children. Guided and inspired by this fact, Rozaria Memorial Trust through your support has been partnering with Magaya Primary School since the year 2013 to construct two (2) classroom blocks. Substantial work has been achieved over the years with both classroom blocks now have been roofed. Each classroom block has two classes and two offices for teachers.
In 2016, the project as of now has not raised much financial resources to see off the completion of the project. This has been largely due to the prevailing economic challenges in Zimbabwe and the continued decline in the enrolment at the school which now stands at 300 students against an enrolment of 700 in the early 2000. The remaining work include inside plastering, flooring, painting and glazing. RMT in collaboration with the school authorities has been moblising the community through the village heads of Magaya, Jakopo, Dizha, Marumisa and Chimusoro Villages to contribute local materials that are needed for the completion of the project. This was achieved 100% as the community managed to bring river sand, pitsand and a group of builders have pledged to provide free labour for the remaining part of the work. A total of 200 bags of cement are needed for inside plastering and flooring for both classroom blocks. The other materials like paint and glasses for glazing are there at the school
Whilst celebrating the milestones of the project in the past 3 years, it is disheartening to note that there was not much progress that was recorded towards its completion for the period of 2016. The early child learners at the school students are now using the classroom in their incomplete state,100 children are accomodated with an average of 25 students per each class. To the students and the teachers, this is a better arrangement as they have been learning under a tree shade since the year 2008 when the 3 classroom blocks at the school were destroyed by hailstorm. The classes have been nicely decorated inside with fine art to make them habitable and friendlier to the kids. Despite this the classrooms are dusty and windy which affects the learning of the kids and also exposes them to health related complications.
It remains our key priority in promoting Early Childhood learning at Magaya Secondary School and the completion of these two classroom blocks at the school will contribute immensely towards achieving this goal. 31 December 2016 is our prime target in ending this project. Your support and contribution will make this come to fruition and bring a smile to the kids and the Magaya community at large. A total of US$2500,00 is required to complete the remaining work.
Thank you for the great support over the years. The progress recorded to date is indebted to your generous support.
