During the first half of 2026, we delivered a series of construction workshops at Unit 47 of the San Martín Correctional Facility. Around 50 incarcerated men and women participating in the Espartanos program received hands-on training in wall finishing, foundation construction, and floor installation.
The most meaningful outcome of these workshops is that participants put their new skills into practice by building the first educational classroom inside this prison unit. This new space will allow Fundación Espartanos to expand its educational and vocational programs, creating more opportunities for learning and personal growth.
Until now, all of the Foundation's educational activities in Unit 47 had taken place inside the housing pavilion. Having a dedicated classroom marks an important milestone, providing a proper learning environment where future courses and workshops can be delivered.
Every wall built and every floor installed represents more than a new technical skill. It reflects the participants' commitment to building a better future—for themselves and for those who will benefit from this classroom in the years to come.
