Peace School for Afghan Refugees and Host Communities Report –June 2024- September 2024

Case Study:

Zainab is student of the grade 4, she is the younger child among the 10 siblings. The mother of Zainab is a domestic worker and works for in nearby houses. Her father is an Electrician and works on daily wages. Her mother wanted her children to study well in the school and also get some job after completing the studies. There is a culture of early marriages in the family and most of the girls got married in the age of 14-17 generally. Her father forced her mother for the early marriage so the daughters and told her mother that she along with her elder sister will not continue her studies in future. But her mother resists on the view of her husband and discusses it with the school staff to convince and pressurise the father to stop him from his plans. The principal herself met the father and convince him about the significance of girl child education and the country laws to stop child marriages. Now her father is convinced and the Amara and her sister are studying in the school. Amara wanted to become a doctor in future and wanted to continue her studies. Summer Vacation June – August: The Children enjoyed their summer vacation from the month of June till August 10, 2024.

Summer camps:

Peace school team organised summer camps with for the children to boost their capabilities and give them a chance to enjoy and learn through different activities. We provided them so many activities at summer camps and these activities can help in improving the self-esteem of children. This summer camp in Peace School offered so many activities at summer camps like Mathematics crafts, Urdu English handwriting, Communication skills & verbal skills, Phonological awareness, Science crafts, debates, pottery & clay work, and other good qualities in kids.

Back to School:

All the children were happy to join back the school after the summer vacations in the month of August.

Independence Day Celebration at Schools- August 14 (National Day):

Independence Day was celebrated Peace Schools with engaging patriotic activities and performances. The 77th Independence Day of Pakistan with traditional enthusiasm and fervor. Pakistanis celebrate Independence Day on August 14; this day signifies freedom for Muslims of the subcontinent and commemorates the sacrifices of our ancestors for a separate homeland for the Muslims and minorities to peacefully live in Pakistan. Speaking on the occasion, the president of FACES Pakistan said that Pakistan was created with immense sacrifices by our forefathers and laid stress on strengthening the national institutions of the country. He stressed the importance of education for the success of a knowledge-based-economy; he further added that Peace School has been playing a pivotal role in the creation of better opportunities for the students and the teachers. All students wore green and white outfits to show their unity; students performed dramas, sung national songs, held paintings and photography showcases to express their love for their country. The teachers, heads of the school, and administrative sections attended the event. The school was decorated with Pakistani flags and banners to mark Independence Day. All students wore green and white outfits to show their unity; students performed dramas, sung national songs, held paintings and photography showcases to express their love for their country. It is indeed a proud moment for all Pakistanis to celebrate their independence. There were speeches by a number of students which drew the attention of all towards the supreme sacrifice by the great martyrs who gave their lives for the sake of freedom, and those individuals who played an instrumental role in the making of Pakistan, most notably the father of the Nation: Quaid e Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
