Life Skills Training Program for 500 School Girls

As we begin the new year, we remain committed to equipping adolescent school girls with the skills and confidence they need to thrive. To date, 119 girls have been reached through the Life Skills Training Program. Each participant has gained practical knowledge and skills in identifying and responding to abuse, asserting her rights, and building resilience against sexual coercion and pressure.

Our goal for the year remains to reach 500 girls through the Life Skills Training Program. We are actively working to secure the necessary support and mobilize resources required to resume sessions in the upcoming school term. Many adolescent girls in our target schools continue to face vulnerabilities that this program is specifically designed to address, and we are committed to ensuring they have access to the knowledge, tools, and support systems needed to make safe and informed life choices.

Meanwhile, we continue to invest in the long-term educational advancement of young women through the Soars Scholarship Program. As of the end of 2025, 102 girls across 30 universities in Nigeria are currently enrolled in the program. These scholars represent a growing network of resilient and purpose-driven young women who are being supported to complete their tertiary education and contribute meaningfully to society.

The Life Skills Training Program was designed by the Christopher Kolade Foundation to equip 500 school girls from low-income families with life skills that will help them solve problems, manage their lives in a productive manner, make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health, and make a positive contribution to the community. The project also includes training modules in sexual abuse and gender-based violence prevention, self-awareness, self-esteem, communication, goal setting, and values & leadership.

To date, 119 girls have been reached, representing approximately 24% of our target of 500 girls. Each girl reached represents a step closer to ending sexual violence against girls and empowering them to make informed and confident life choices.

CKF remains committed to its goal of building a generation of empowered and resilient girls. The Foundation continues to leverage partnerships with the Ministry of Education and adolescent health organizations to strengthen program delivery and reach. With continued support from donors and partners, the next round of training activities is scheduled to resume in the next school term, once sufficient funding is secured. Through these efforts, CKF will continue empowering adolescent girls to make informed and confident life choices.
