Activities and Relevant Actions

Children are taught dances, accompanied by professionals of "Dance network", develop cultural and artistic skills.  

From the vocational area, continues with arts classes, developing skills from technical of chalk and free drawing. Also, they are painting a mural in the company of children.  

In partnership with Police of childhood and adolescence and some institutions of protection, children participate in the “Friendship Tournament”, promoting the sport, fair play and the fundamentals values of this competition with children and girls.

It is positive progress in the process of preparing for egress of 3 children and adolescents, with the possibility to continue using social and community network in their environment in order to prevent psychosocial risks.

From the project "Learning to live with other" children became aware of the importance of the practice of values for daily living and the foundations for a solid future, emphasized institutional values as a strategy to strengthen the sense of belonging to the Corporation.

 

Academic, nutritional, among other achievements.

The area of pedagogy, continues to strengthen the project "Learning to learn" through the "time study" in order to strengthen the themes of the period providing review activities in the areas of greatest difficulty in each of the children and adolescents.

Children reinforcements began in math and English, with the support of two American volunteers who are linked.

Project "Prosociality" is done with professional psychology at the University of San Buenaventura, through workshops of service to others, values and strengthening of socialization and coexistence.

Workshops Project "Sexuality a way to recognize" were developed, with the topics: Building and strengthening the identity, roles of everyday life and sexuality in the media, where children strengthen relationships with others and the experience of sexuality in everyday life.

Hygiene and self-care Brigade were performed, called "I love me and I care me" where advances are evident and recommendations for continuous improvement of personal presentation are provided.

Children and adolescents significantly improved their nutritional status, approaching the normal range for age. The timely delivery of Bienestarina by the area of nutrition and health for the continuation of healthy eating at home also stands.

We got rating 100% in auditing by the ICBF implementation of  Bienestarina, highlighting the proper management that the Corporation has had with the product.

 

Activities with families

We realized the celebration of “Family Day” at the Lido theater, where were strengthened links and children and youth with their families and employees of the Corporation were integrated. 

We conduct group meetings where children are oriented in the expression of feelings and emotions, besides we worked strengthening dialogue and trust in parental relationships.

Psychology conducted exercises based on the topics of self-observation and orientation projection lifeline with short, medium and long term.

In the project "Family Superarse" parenting practices is strengthened through Family Plan issues, conflict resolution between different subsystems and risk situations and violation of rights.

We made individual counseling and families, who require therapy, are refer, the project "Living Well Family" the Mayor of Medellin and the Centre "Individual and Family".

We do socialization every four months of the evolution of the care process, commitments are set by children and families, these reports are submitted to the competent authority.

We started the project "Together strengthening family" with the professional support of the University of Antioquia, where the family dynamic is strengthened, through individual counseling and focus group.

 

Educational activities

Expansion care of INDER, increasing the activities in which the childrens and teenangers can participate.

Continue the project "points system" which provides incentives to children, according to their behavior in the month.

Days of the "Good treatment" and reflective workshops are made, in the project "make a deal for the good treatment", where children are strengthened in the identification, reporting and prevention of risk situations and violation of rights.

Visits to Arvi Park, the Botanical Garden and the book festival and culture were made, bringing children to city spaces and ensuring access to recreation and culture for educational purposes.  

We continued with the strengthening of teens who are in preparation for discharge in professional accompaniment of the project "Preparation for Independent Living".

ACTIVITIES AND RELEVANT ACTIONS

Joint processes were reactivated in comprehensive care network, such as the Network of Medellin Dances with which schedule learning process of children enrolled was available. Subject that creates value to the process of vocational training, fundamental to the quality standards of the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare.

The Corporation management admission to the park Explore for free, through the Secretary of Culture of the Municipality of Medellin. Children also visited the Museum of Modern Art of Medellin.

The children attended a puppet show at the Camilo Torres theater at the University of Antioquia, with the theme of prevention of sexual abuse.

On the occasion of the celebration of childhood, children visited the recreation park Comfama La Estrella.

Two important home visits are conducted to verify the current socio-economic and family conditions of sibling groups, defined share food package to one of the families.

During the June management linking children and adolescents hotbeds of performing arts with theater Popular Medellin and headquarters of dreams was performed. In which some children were linked weekends to strengthen vocational skills.

We were held a workshop to strengthen the project "Let's make a deal for Good Treatment" with the theme: conflict resolution, children and adolescents were able to identify that although conflicts are natural events in relationships, it all depends as They are addressed.

The Corporation conducted the meeting with the families' childrearing practices: application of rules, authority, limits incentives and sanctions in the Home ". This process realized the relevance of the topic with families as situations where there are weaknesses against the norm, which have been strengthened with the support from the modality were evident.

It was given clothes to children and adolescents beneficiaries for their socio-economic difficulties.

The assessment of children by specialist in Neurology was achieved in Hospital Council of Medellin, being referred to occupational therapy and speech therapy. Please note that favors the development situation of childrens with this process.

Focus Group was conducted with caregivers of children and adolescents diagnosed with an illness related to mental health, the work was focused on caregivers, feelings, causes and effects, feelings and emotions related to the diagnosis.

To strengthen the life project, an activity called Autobiography are realized, where children and adolescents were able to connect emotionally expression of experiences, fears and strengths.

With the medical coordinator of the Health Center Metrosalud El Salvador, dating was achieved for general medicine in the "healthy youth" program, as a preventive for possible disturbances in children and adolescents measure.

With a volunteer dentist care of children and adolescents for dental traces that were required was achieved.

We made a brigade of hygiene and self-care in the framework of the project "Health promotion and disease prevention", with the support of students CEFA; continue observing deficiencies in this regard, specific feedback to children and families contributing to the improvement of habits was conducted.

From vocational training, drawing and painting classes are offered, contributing to the development of artistic skills.

From the project "learning to you study," the area of education has been strengthening care for children and adolescents at the time of study, receiving continued support personalized way, also emphasized in compliance with homework as assigned tasks and workshops at the school to strengthen institutional habits and routines at home and at school.

During June leisure and recreational activities took place corresponding to school break. The children attended arts classes, activities in toy library, yoga, activities in Comfama encouraging the promotion and motivation to literature, afternoon theater, also held birthday celebration of children and adolescents, making a surprise bingo, soapy track and music competition.

ACTIVITIES AND RELEVANT ACTIONS        

  • Linking students from universities of Social Work and Psychology to the care process, who contribute from their knowledge in a practical way the different projects and reinforce project life issues and family dynamics.
  • Increased accompaniment to appointments of specialists, psychiatry, medical and dental, by families, which affects the consolidation of parental responsibility in relation to the development of children and adolescents.
  • Management for attention with specialists at the Neurological Institute of Antioquia, to ensure care for children with differential diagnosis.
  • With the support of the program "Preparation for Independent Life" , it has achieved linking families to continue and complete their education in elementary and high school, creating a comprehensive intervention in improving family conditions.
  • The process of monitoring of quality standards by the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare, in relation to the service as a unit of care, was satisfactory, achieving the qualification of 99 % compliance.
  • Institutional networks were reactivated for complementation of intervention with children and adolescents in cultural, recreational, educational and artistic aspects , which will take effect during the following months in outside activities to ensure comprehensive care process .

SOCIAL WORK

We are developing the following projects:

- Socialization networks of community and institutional support, allowing to generate in children knowledge about different routes to activate when you require a service of this kind.

- Making cooking workshop "Another Taste at Home ", by institution “La Colegiatura Colombiana”.

- Process began with the interdisciplinary team for identifying tastes and interests of children and adolescents in art, culture and sport. Action will respond to fulfilling the variable vocational training.

- We managed to score 100 % on the audit conducted by the Colombian Family Welfare Institute to the "Bienestarina Más" , highlighting the proper use of the product and the acceptance of the beneficiaries of the preparations where the product is included . 

- Alliance was established with the neighborhood health center belonging to Metrosalud, group care for children and adolescents in programs for growth and development and healthy and “Joven Sano”. 

-  Alliance is created with the "Savia Salud" entity for specialty care such as pediatric neurology and pediatric endocrinology, achieving support families of children in timely health care.

- Strengthening regulatory processes through interventions with families to improve relationships in the corporation and within families.

RELEVANT ACTIVITIES AND ACTIONS

  • Children and adolescents participated in recreational holiday activities planned and implemented during November, December and January 2016, where they enjoyed sleepovers, movie days, celebrated Christmas and welcome the new year.
  • Children and adolescents involved in activities that promote the proper management of social networks.
  • We perform recreational outings to the park "The Asomadera" ecological park "El Salado", planetarium, park "Bicentennial" and park "The Hillside".

- The project "Let's try for the good treatment" was closured and evaluation was performed which concluded that the days of good treatment are very positive for the strengthening of institutional socialization and coexistence.

- The Family School performed the closing and evaluation "Superarse in Family", where Christmas gifts are shared and Families were rewarded for their positive linkage to the institutional process.

Our main accomplishments for this period:

  • 100% of families are participating in a comprehensive support strategy, effectively enrolling in children and teenagers processes from different areas of intervention.
  • Effective participation on events coordinated by the Major's Office of Medellín such as Cultural and Artistic Fair with a talent show in plastic arts.
  • There was a continued participation on Getting Ready for an Independent Life program with several visits to universities and colleges.

Social Work

  • There were two institutional programs created: The Abuse Prevention and Kindness Promotion for children and teenagers and It is Possible in Family for custodians.
  • The project "Families Getting Stronger Together," coordinated by our social worker apprentice, was successfully finished. It was evaluated by focus group on childrearing practices and its main characteristics: rules, authority figures, limits, stimulae, and sanctions.

There was a Kind Treatment Day, where participants expressed their positive feelings with their peers in an activity called The Feelings Ring.

In our Knitting Smiles Project where participants get ready to emerge, we made activities to introduce teenagers to the use and knowledge of social network within their local neighborhood.

The Kind Treatment Day was reinforced by a strategy called Colivingmeter as an assurance of learning of interpersonal relationships among children.

Our Pedagogy Unit implemented the Family School strategy to teach study techniques and routines at home.

Individual psychiatric and neuropsychology consultation has led to the establishment of intervention objectives directed towards teens and children on a cognitive, behavioral, emotional, familiar and social level.

Psychoeducational support continues to be an excellent opportunity for families to clear specific doubts regarding their role with teens and children.

All children received medical and dental care accounting as much as 150 processes.

Children and families suffering from nutritional deficiencies continued on our nutritional consultation and support system.

The institution health care professional strengthened our health program with local entities such as Savia Salud, Metrosalud, Homo de Almacentro, Choan farmacia, Colsubsidio, Salud Total, Sura, Hospital Concejo de Medellín, Salucoop, Nueva Eps and Instituto Neurológico de Colombia; consequently there was an increase in time efficiency for health consultations, diagnosis and treatments.

Academic Achievements among others.

-          Food handlers received training on temperature control and weight standardization process on served meals continued.

-          Every child participated on study sessions with school workshops and tutoring.

-          We continued our contemporary dance training and reinforced artistic and creative skills, body image, body self-awareness and acknowledgement of technical and rhythmical elements with The Dance Network. We also continued preparations for the December Choreography Show.

-          We continued screening School Report Cards for the second period to prepare accordingly with tutoring sessions.

-          The environmental project continued with Thursday’s meetings led by Luis Amigo’s pedagogy intern.
