Mother and her children
Mother and her children

We think there is not a better way to thanks, as from a mother assists testemonial:

"Relieved, Greice concluded that their life improved 100%. “I will carry this experience with me for the rest of my life. Now I have other dreams, other expectations.”

Mother and wife, Greice found herself in a desperate situation in 2012. What seemed at first to be a joyous occasion, the birth of Luíza, her youngest daughter, quickly became unfortunate: she was born with gastroschisis and intestinal atresia, problems of malformed intestines and abdomen. Her husband was unemployed.

L was admitted to Hospital da Lagoa and shortly afterward the family was referred to Associação Saúde Criança. At first, the help was for Greice’s transportation, so that she could go to the hospital and return home to see her two other daughters. Starting there, as L’s condition improved, Saúde Criança began to monitor the family and expand the assistance already provided, buying necessary special milk and helping with social issues, such as Bolsa Família and family planning.

When L developed an allergy, the association evaluated the living conditions of the family, and when they discovered very poor conditions, they initiated a renovation project. In August of 2014, the Housing Program was finished. L’s mother declared that after Associação Criança Saúde´s work her husband felt more at home in her house. “My children are much better, and I have a more adequate environment to attend my clients”.

In the workshops offered by Saúde Criança, she perfected her skills and learned new techniques. In a few months she was able to work and contribute to the family income. “I learned how to better work with my clients and to care for them, with the assistance of Saúde Criança. I was always a manicurist, but now I am a professional,” said Greice, who now is taking a hairdresser course.

For the family to improve, the husband needs to be employed and earn an income in order to cover the special and extra costs for her daughter, aside from the basic care of the family. The association is helping him to attain a driver’s license and thus become a more complete professional.

Little L’s family has grown a lot since 2012 and now much better off and close to setting out on their own. Relieved, Greice concluded that their life improved 100%. “I will carry this experience with me for the rest of my life. Now I have other dreams, other expectations.”
