We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the first phase of our Invisible Illness campaign. Your donations surpassed our fundraising goal, and we’re proceeding to the next phase. We are deeply honored by the confidence donors have shown in our commitment to providing patients and caregivers the data they need to make informed healthcare decisions.

Over the past year, your donations have helped us accomplish many goals including:

  • Lupus survey finalized
  • Initial research on five invisible illnesses concluded
  • Data protocols completed
  • Data protection compliance initiated
  • New website launched
  • and many more

As phase one comes to a close, phase two is just beginning.

Our new GlobalGiving campaign is now open:
Human Health Project (HHP) $25K Matching Challenge
https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/hhp2018/

Every donation made to this new GlobalGiving campaign will be generously matched up to a total of $25,000 by ChildLife Essentials www.childlife.net.

Through this campaign, we’re looking forward to expanding our set of health conditions to include Crohn’s, Lyme, Chronic fatigue, and Fibromyalgia. This includes surveying patients and caregivers about their health conditions, and then sharing this data with the public to help others manage their conditions.

Your contributions enable us to continue creating the most comprehensive data collection tools to learn about the needs of individuals with invisible illnesses. We hope you will continue to support our mission to help those seeking accurate and objective information about their health conditions.

For more information about how HHP is helping to make a difference in the lives of people around the world, we invite you to visit our website at https://humanhealthproject.org/

Please also subscribe to our newsletter to be kept up to date on our progress. https://humanhealthproject.org/get-involved/

Please consider making another donation to our new $25K Matching Challenge campaign to help us continue our research. Every donation will be doubled up to a total of $25,000.

Many thanks for donating to HHP's "Invisible Illness Data for Millions Worldwide" crowdfunding campaign. Since our last update, we have been continuing toward completing the initial phases of research and development for each of the invisible illnesses.

Our progress to date:

  • Created five preliminary surveys to identify the needs of people dealing with each of the invisible illnesses
  • Appointed new experienced professionals in marketing and product development
  • Formed a team of evidence-based medicine experts to establish our data guidelines and protocol
  • Recruited additional UX designers to develop the design of our website and display of data
  • Developed UX to include lifetime relationships with HHP survey takers and information seekers
  • Finalized the Lupus study protocol and survey questions

The HHP team has learned a lot from everyone who participated in our initial research, and we will continue to improve our research methods and user experience.

We are also excited to announce we will be launching HHP’s new website this month. The new site will include the finalized Lupus survey which will start collecting data for our Lupus research. Our Migraine reports will also be enhanced. Close to 50 new reports have been added to the site, including reports on demographics, treatment side effects, costs, and many more. We will soon be adding similar reports for Lupus which we will display on the HHP website along with our migraine reports.

The next phase of our work will focus on the creation of surveys we will conduct for the other four invisible illnesses, and the continued development of the user experience for HHP’s site visitors. A new GlobalGiving microproject campaign will fund this next phase of our Invisible Illness research. We will be in touch to let you know prior to its launch.

Your contributions enable us to continue creating the most comprehensive data collection tools to learn about the needs of individuals with invisible illnesses. We hope you will continue to support our mission to help those seeking accurate and objective information about their health conditions.

As one of our survey respondents commented, “This is the first complete survey that I have found.” It is these comments that motivate us, and give meaning to what we do.

For people struggling with invisible illnesses, it often seems like no one understands. Thank you for understanding.

The next phase of our work on Invisible conditions will focus on the creation of a survey that we will conduct for Lupus and development of the user experience including CRM to as much as possible create a lifetime relationship with HHP users. Drawing on what we learned in the preliminary survey, we will create a survey collecting information on symptoms, causes, treatments and side effects. This survey will follow the evidence-based methodology we have created with the initial crowdfunding, and will apply to all five Invisible conditions. A new GlobalGiving microproject campaign will fund this next phase of Lupus research. We will be in touch to let you know prior to its launch.

We will display the findings of our lupus research on the HHP website along with our migraine reports.

Many thanks for donating to HHP's "Invisible Illness Data for Millions Worldwide" crowdfunding campaign. With your help, we were successful in raising over $5,000 and in becoming a permanent member of GlobalGiving.

With the money raised, we are:

  • Conducting research to create 5 surveys, one for each of the Invisible conditions: Crohn’s disease, Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), Lupus, Lyme disease, Fibromyalgia
  • Collecting information to determine the data needs of people dealing with each of these conditions
  • Recruiting focus group participants from whom we will learn more about their data needs
  • Recruiting advocates and moderators for the HHP community site to which we will add each of these conditions in the phase 2 program
  • Recruiting product and marketing team members
  • Recruiting User Experience expert(s) to work on the display of information collected in preparation for the phase 2 program

The HHP team has learned a lot from everyone who participated in our initial research, and we will continue to improve our research methods.
As one of our survey respondents commented, “This is the first complete survey that I have found.” It is these comments that motivate us, and give meaning to what we do.
