Education awareness in Schools through competition
We thank the donors for committing to the conservation of Indian Pangolin. Also, we are grateful to the GlobalGiving for providing the platform to spread a word about our work and fundraising.
Awareness and Sensitization
- 28 Educational institutes were educated and aware about species severity, protection law and special wildlife educations were provided.
- Total 234 eco-friendly awareness board installed in the region to outreach mass awareness in the region.
- Cognizance leaflets with Save Pangolin message were distributed across 479 villages across Snagameshwar, Mandangad, and Dapoli block.
- To educate and aware local community about species severity and importance in ecosystem meeting was taken across 64 villages in the region.
- Capacity building of the Forest department to tackle the illegal forest activity such as Hunting and Poaching of the species.
Pangolin field Survey
- Day night Field survey was carried out in Mandangad block to Study ecology of the species and habitat.
- 9 Trap camera deployed on field after monsoon now 30 camera trap is Deployed on field to document species movement, behavior and ecology.
- Questionnaire survey is completed across the Dapoli, Mandangad and Sangameshwar block of the Ratnagiri District.
- Data were analyzed collected from 2016, total camera trap days since 2016 till now is 10000 total 206 Pangolin photos and 90 videos were documented by the organization.
- Scat sample of the species were processed and send it to the expert for analyzing food preference of the species.

Awareness and livelihood Activity
We thank the donors for committing to the conservation of Indian Pangolin. Also, we are grateful to the GlobalGiving for providing the platform to spread a word about our work and fundraising.
Awareness
- 3224 Pictorial story on Indian Pangolin in Local language (Marathi) book distributed in schools in entire Ratnagiri District.
- Total 184 eco-friendly awareness board installed in the region to outreach mass awareness in the region.
- To educate and aware local community meeting was taken in villages such as Shrungarpur, Karjuve, Konde, Kasar kolvan, kudawale, and Panhali.
- Awareness leaflets with Save Pangolin message were distributed 213 villages across Snagameshwar, Mandangad, and Dapoli block.
Pangolin Survey
- Questionnaire survey completed in 245 villages across Mandangadh, Dapoli and Sangameshwar block of Ratnagiri district.
- 40 Camera trap were used but due to heavy monsoon 19 cameras removed and 21 cameras still deployed on the field with proper rain cover and protection.
- Field survey – Once in every week SNM team visits for field survey of the Indian Pangolin.
- Approximately 5000 camera days and 300 wild photos and videos of pangolin clicked through camera trap across the region.
- Scat sample of the species were collected from the burrow of the species in Mandangad.
Impact - Found the presence of species in two blocks near 4 burrows captured in camera trap

Education in schools about Pangolin and Wildlife.
We thank the donors for committing to the conservation of Indian Pangolin. Also, we are grateful to the GlobalGiving for providing the platform to spread a word about our work and fundraising. In the month of March 2019-May 2019 various activities have been taken to endorse awareness of conservation of Indian pangolin.
Awareness
- Total 1437 letters in 479 villages across Dapoli, Mandangad, and Sangameshwar block had send to inform all villagers’ head about pangolin conservation work to gain villagers support.
- Questionnaire survey and awareness in Dapoli and Sangameshwar block partially done.
- Community Meeting was taken in Anjarle, Karjube, Viheer, Nive, kundi, khadi-kolvan and Saile villages with villagers to educate and aware about species severity and importance.
- SNM team attended Gramsabha meeting of the Kudawale village to raise pangolin profile in the meeting within villagers.
- Installed 125 an eco-friendly Awareness boards across Mandangad, Dapoli, and Sangameshwar region.
- Educated about pangolin - 9th and 10th class students of Aadarsh Vidyamandir School, Belari village, Sanameshwar block, were educated about Pangolin.
- Conducted community meeting in Panhali village of Mandangad block where community sensitized about pangolin and sustainable livelihood idea.
- Counducted meeting with Education department to gain support to distribute pictorial story book on Indain Pangolin in local language.
Pangolin Survey –
- During field survey in March and April 2019 collected pangolin fecal sample from two distinct burrows.
- Questionnaire Survey – To collect baseline data about species questionnaire survey is conducting in 172 villages of Dapoli block.
- 10 camera traps were deployed to cover 5 new burrows of the species in the region.
- Field survey – Once in every week SNM team visits for field survey of the Indian Pangolin.
Livelihood Training
- Conducted Beekeeping training - Training of Apis cerena sp. wild capturing and relocating into hive box were given to the villagers of Kasar kalowan in Sangameshwar block.
- Conducted Eco-tourism Training – Hospitality and Nature guide training were given to the vihir villagers for homestay and nature trail for tourist.
Impact – Total 11 numbers of Pangolin rescued by villagers and forest department in Konkan region of Maharashtra.
