School student Rally to raise awareness
We thank the donors for committing to the conservation of Indian Pangolin. Also, we are grateful to the Global Giving for providing the platform to spread a word about our work and fundraising. In the month of December 2018- February 2019 various activities have been taken to endorse awareness of conservation of Indian pangolin.
Awareness drives
- To decrease the pressure of poaching in the region continuously education and awareness has been carried out in schools and villages. Meetings and communication with local community in the region to raise the voice for conservation of Indian Pangolin in the region.
- Sahyadri Nisarga Mitra had received Lesser known species award from The Habitats trust on 21st of December 2018 at Delhi Kiran Nadar Museum of art for the Conservation of Indian pangolin through community participation in Konka region of Maharashtra, India.
- Sahyadri Nisarg Mitra has to Continue distribution of Indian pangolin pamphlets in Marathi (Local language) highlighting the urgency of protecting the Indian Pangolin and habitat.
Pangolin Survey
- In the month of December and November, a questionnaire survey is being continued in Dapoli, and Sangameshwar block of Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra, India.
- Team collecting secondary data presence of indirect sign of species in the region such as burrow, footprint and scat of the species.
- The search for new active burrows and local guides is being continued in the region with the help of locals.
World Pangolin day Celebration
- Each year from 2016 SNM celebrate world pangolin day with new concept and ideas to raise voice for the conservation of the species in the region through community support.
- SNM celebrate World Pangolin day 2019 at Devrukh, Ratnagiri district in Konkan region of Maharashtra, India.
- On the occasion of Pangolin festival Awareness in schools and school students take initiative for species conservation and raise awareness voice in the region through Rally.
- To raise the voice for Pangolin conservation locally and globally art community involved in world pangolin day with their art on Pangolin.
- Prize distribution among participated schools and colleges in Essay writing, Drawing and Power point presentation competition on Indian Pangolin.
- Publication and releasing Pictorial story book on Indian pangolin in local language to raise awareness.
- Release Khawlu (Indian Pangolin) Mascot to raise conservation of species nationally and globally.
- Released Short Film on Indian Pangolin in local language (Marathi) to raise awareness in the region about species severity.

CONSERVATION INDIAN PANGOLIN
We thank the donors for committing to the conservation of Indian Pangolin. Also, we are grateful to the Global Giving for providing the platform to spread a word about our work and fundraising. In the month of October and November, various activities have been taken to endorse awareness of conservation of Indian pangolin in the region like Camera trapping, awareness programs, field visits to find the local guides to search and identify active burrows to set camera traps etc.
Awareness drives
- To create awareness for conservation of Indian Pangolin awareness workshop held at Mandangad block of Ratnagiri district. Village head, Police Patil, officers from the forest department and police department and local villagers were present from entire block. Officials from forest department introduced to people the laws and current status of Indian pangolin. At the end of the workshop, all people gave the pledge to the conservation of Indian pangolin in their work area.
- To aware young generation about conservation of nature, specifically for Indian pangolin, two awareness programs were held at Ketaki-Bhile village of Chiplun block, where participants got introduced with threats and various aspects in the conservation of Indian pangolin.

Pangolin Survey
- In the month of October and November, a questionnaire survey was done in Dapoli, Vadi Beldar, Kosbi village of Ratnagiri district.
- Total 11 cameras were deployed for 61 days in which total two times on two locations camera traps have captured Indian pangolin.
- The search for new active burrows and local guides is being continued in the region with the help of locals.

Conservation of Indian Pangolin, Update August – September 2018
We are filled with gratitude to the donors for committing to the conservation of Indian Pangolin. Also, we are thankful to the Global Giving for providing the platform to spread a word about conservation work and fundraising.
Pangolin Survey:
- In the month of August and September a questionnaire survey done in Wadi Beldar, kalmani, Birmani, Ojali, Wadi Jaitapur, Ambavali and Choravane village of Khed district and Kasar-Kolavane village of Ratnagiri district.
- There was good support of the local villagers and connected with a local guide of Wadi Beldar, kalmani, Birmani, Ojali, Wadi Jaitapur, Ambavali and Choravane village of Khed district and Kasar-Kolavane village of Ratnagiri district.
- In the month of July Total 1609 camera days completed with the use of 27 Trail Cameras out of which in last 30 days from 3 fields 9 cameras data was retrieved Indian Pangolin evidence was found 3 times at two different field sites.
- Continuously using Android App for the recording of the trail camera survey information and maintain the Data. This is very useful for the collecting information like location, date, time and other details of the trail camera survey.
Awareness Drives
- Awareness lectures held in Aamdus High school and United High school, Chiplun and giving the information about Indian Pangolin and their role in the environment as well as threats about Indian pangolin in their region. This session helps to create curiosity and Knowledge about wildlife in young mind and most important is spread awareness to protect nature throughout the region.
- Sahyadri Nisarg Mitra has attending Gramsabha meetings and interaction with local communities to spread the importance of conservation of Indian Pangolin.
- Sahyadri Nisarg Mitra and Maharashtra Forest Department held a Workshop for Katkari Adim Association for Pangolin Conservation from 9th September 2018. The Overall aims of the workshop were to facilitate the development and implementation of targeted in- situ pangolin conservation activities and to stimulate the local community’s interest in pangolin survival.
- Tree Plantation: Tree Plantation activity was carried out with the awareness on the Importance of plants for life cycle. The native tree such as Lagerstroemia speciosa(Tamhan), Alstonia scholaris(Satvin), Ficus religiosa(Pimple), Memecylon umbellatun(Anjani), Syzygium cumini(Jambul) etc was done with the help of local peoples.
