At the request of a community in its intervention area, the NGO CAV proposes to implement a support program for access to improved water sources. This project includes the installation of 1 human-powered borehole in the community of Sagbadai in Togo. This project will contribute to improving the health of this community estimated at 4,251 inhabitants, by providing quality water, in sufficient quantity and in all seasons.
The challenges faced by these communities are generally as follows: the water used in these areas is often sourced from open wells, infected water from rivers and ponds, which causes waterborne and parasitic diseases such as malaria (the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in these communities), diarrhea and typhoid fever
1. Raise awareness among the community to better understand the issues and risks of the project; 2. Undertake drilling and water analysis activities; 3. Supply the equipment and install the mechanical and manual feeding system; 4. Build the borehole superstructure 5. Support the community in setting up the Water Committee 6. Strengthen the capacities of the Water Committee on the maintenance, management and monitoring of boreholes
This project will bring the following impacts 1. A sustainable solution to the problem of drying up of water sources in the dry season 2. Prevention of water-borne diseases 3. Improvement of the health of the population
This project has provided additional documentation in a DOCX file (projdoc.docx).
