I - FINAL TECHNICAL REPORT
INTRODUCTION
The implementation of the activities of the project "Sustainably improving access to water and sanitation in rural areas for the benefit of the communities of Kparatao, Nigbaoudè II, Yéliwa-Peuhl, N'Tchourou and Pagala-Gare respectively in the prefectures of Tchaoudjo, Tchamba and Blitta in Togo" began with the awareness-raising phase for the beneficiary communities on January 5, 2026. It is being implemented by the NGO CAV with the financial support of the COCHRAN Family based in the USA through GlobalGiving.
This report summarizes all activities carried out from January to July 2026.
The following activities were carried out during this period:
- Raising public awareness about the project and establishing drilling sites ;
- Implementation and construction of the sanitary block in N'Tchourou;
- Conducting geophysical studies;
- Well drilling;
- Water pumping and analysis;
- Construction of superstructures and water towers for boreholes;
- Supply of equipment and installation of mechanical and photovoltaic power systems;
- Support for the establishment of Water Committees, responsible for monitoring and managing boreholes and the management committee for the sanitary block;
- Training of Committees on the maintenance and sustainable management of structures;
- Reception of the sanitary block in N'Tchourou ;
- Technical and provisional acceptance of the boreholes;
- Monitoring, supervision and coordination of project activities.
COURSE OF ACTIVITIES
1. RAISING PUBLIC AWARENESS ABOUT THE PROJECT AND ESTABLISHING DRILLING SITES AND SANITARY FACILITIES:
Awareness campaigns took place from January 6 to 9, 2026 in the localities benefiting from the drilling and sanitation block project.
During these awareness sessions, the beneficiaries were equipped with the knowledge of their responsibilities to now take charge of the management and maintenance of the structures to be built.
The sites chosen are those belonging to the entire community or space given by the community or landowners with proof of site ownership.
2. CONSTRUCTION OF THE SANITARY BLOCK WITH 3 LATRINES AND 3 SHOWERS AT THE N'TCHOUROU HEALTH CENTER:
Following the awareness-raising phase and the site's establishment on January 6, 2026, the following activities were carried out by the company in charge of the project:
- The search;
- The making of concrete blocks;
- The foundation;
- The raising of the walls;
- The frame and sheet metal roofing
3. GEOPHYSICAL STUDIES:
Geophysical studies were conducted in the beneficiary communities from January 11 to 14, 2026. These studies revealed the existence of abundant groundwater between 60 and 120 meters deep.
4. DRILLING, DEVELOPMENT AND EQUIPMENT OF DRILLS
Drilling, development and equipment work was successfully completed at all 4 project sites from January 21 to 25, 2026.
5. PUMPING AND PHYSICOCHEMICAL AND MICROBIOLOGICAL ANALYSES OF WATER FROM WELLS:
The pumping of the boreholes took place two (2) weeks after the drilling phase. It occurred from February 10th to 14th, 2026, and consisted of:
- Measure the drilling flow rate;
- Determine the variation in its production at different flow rates;
- Quantify the characteristics of the aquifer, including the permeability coefficient and water storage capacity.
At the end of the pumping, water samples were taken for physicochemical and bacteriological analyses at the laboratory of the Regional Directorate of Water and Hydraulics of Kara.
The analyses were carried out from February 11 to 15, 2026.
The results of the analyses were deemed satisfactory and fully meet the standards of the WHO (World Health Organization).
6. CONSTRUCTION OF SUPERSTRUCTURES AND WATER TOWERS FOR BOREHOLES;
With the results of physico-chemical and bacteriological analyses deemed acceptable, construction work on the superstructures began successively in the villages of Nigbaoude II, Yéliwa Kparatao and Pagala-Gare.
The superstructures were built on the Nigbaouide II and Yeliwa human-powered boreholes.
The six (6) m high water towers with closed base and module support were built according to best practices for the photovoltaic boreholes of Kparatao and Pagala-Gare.
7. SUPPLY OF EQUIPMENT AND INSTALLATION OF MECHANICAL AND PHOTOVOLTAIC POWER SYSTEMS
The equipment was received at the CAV NGO headquarters in Sokodé on April 14, 2026 for manual boreholes and on June 22, 2026 for photovoltaic boreholes. All received equipment was certified as conforming to the order specifications.
The human-powered pumps were installed on April 17 and 18, 2026. These pumps are of the INDIA brand II type, recommended by the Regional Directorate of Hydraulics and each of the pumps is composed of: one (1) head, one (1) weir, one (1) frame, ten (10) stainless steel pipes of 3 meters each, ten (10) stainless steel rods of 3 meters each and one (1) stainless steel cylinder.
The same solar system was installed on both (2) sites from June 23 to 26, 2026 with three (3) taps on each borehole.
8. SUPPORT FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT AND TRAINING OF WATER COMMITTEES AND THE LATRINE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE:
For the monitoring and management of water infrastructure, two (2) Water Committees (WCs) were established around the two (2) hand-pumped boreholes, and two (2) AUSEPAs (Associations of Users for Drinking Water and Sanitation Services) were established around the two (2) photovoltaic boreholes or Autonomous Water Stations (AWSs). A five (5) member committee was established around the WCs, comprising the President, Secretary, Treasurer, Maintenance Manager, and Hygiene Manager. A seven (7) member AUSEPA was established around the photovoltaic boreholes, consisting of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Operator, Collector, and one (1) Advisor.
The N'Tchourou Health Center Management Committee is composed of five (5) members: a Chairperson, a Secretary, a Hygiene and Sanitation Officer, a Maintenance Officer, and a representative of the users or the community. Capacity building for this committee took place on June 10, 2026, in the waiting room of the N'Tchourou health center. The training was provided by a Senior Sanitary Engineering Technician from the Tchamba Prefectural Health Directorate.
The main themes developed during the training of the Sanitary Block Management Committee are:
- Roles and responsibilities of the latrine hygiene committee;
- Good hygiene and sanitation practices;
- Maintenance and upkeep of latrines;
- Promoting behavior change.
9. ACCEPTANCE OF THE SANITARY BLOCK IN N'TCHOUROU:
The handover of the sanitary block took place on June 5, 2026 in N'Tchourou in the presence of the Prefectural Director of Health of Tchamba, the Sanitary Engineering Technician of Tchamba, local authorities, health workers, Community Health Workers (CHWs), the population of N'Tchourou and the technical team of the NGO CAV.

According to Dr. Wasungu, Prefectural Director of Health (DPS) of Tchamba, "this health block fills a real gap. It will directly contribute to reducing nosocomial infections, combating open defecation, and promoting good hygiene practices among our staff and patients. In this respect, it is fully consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals and Togo's national health policy."
In his statement, the DPS expressed his "deepest gratitude to the NGO CAV for this remarkable initiative. Since its inception, this organization has consistently demonstrated its commitment to rural communities in Togo. By choosing to complete the N'Tchourou health infrastructure in 2026, the construction of which began in 2014 thanks to the generosity of the COCHRAN family, the NGO CAV has taken a strong step of consistency and perseverance. It has proven that a commitment made to a community is not forgotten."
The DPS also wished, on behalf of the Ministry of Health, to "warmly thank the financial partner whose support made it possible to build this modern sanitary block equipped with three showers and three latrines…."
10. TECHNICAL AND PROVISIONAL ACCEPTANCE OF DRILLINGS:
The technical and provisional acceptance of the works took place on May 7 and 8, 2025 in the presence of local authorities, leaders of farmers' organizations, women's organizations and village development committees, Water Committees, etc.
The project implementation companies , notably GOOD LUCK and LASSISSI, respectively the drilling and construction company and the solar energy specialist, also participated in the handover ceremonies in the various localities benefiting from the project. In Yéliwa-Peulh in the Tchamba prefecture and in Pagala-Gare in the Blitta prefecture, the handover ceremony was attended by representatives of the mayors.

The project team, the contractors and the quality controller took turns speaking to provide advice to the local population on the proper use and management of the completed works.
Through moving testimonials, participants expressed their gratitude to the COCHRAN family for their financial support.
11. COORDINATION AND MONITORING OF PROJECT ACTIVITIES.
Monitoring activities were carried out by the project team. This team consisted of the NGO's Coordinator, Accountant, and Cashier. Site visits were organized to monitor progress during the geophysical surveys, drilling and water pumping operations, and during the construction of the N'Tchourou sanitation block. The project team, the companies involved, and the project's technical monitoring officer maintained contact via telephone, email, and WhatsApp.
Follow-up was also organized through site meetings, NGO coordination meetings during which activity reports are made, as well as project activity planning.
II - FINAL FINANCIAL REPORT
INTRODUCTION
The implementation of the activities of the project "Sustainably improving access to water and sanitation in rural areas for the benefit of the communities of Kparatao , Nigbaoudè II, Yéliwa -Peuhl, N' Tchourou and Pagala -Gare respectively in the prefectures of Tchaoudjo , Tchamba and Blitta in Togo" was made possible thanks to the financial support of the COCHRAN Family based in the USA through GlobalGiving .
This report is the final financial statement of activities carried out within the framework of the implementation of this project from February 27, 2026 to July 31, 2026. It includes:
- The funding received;
- The bank journal of the NGO CAV and;
- Budget execution.

The total amount of the grant funding is 58,287,270 CFA francs, or US$ 104,457 (1 US dollar = 558 CFA francs). This grant is distributed as follows:
