Homes for Survivors of Sex Trafficking Report

By Sarah Moshofsky | Co-Director of Care

the six girls who received care in West Java
the six girls who received care in West Java

Sarah’s House is as busy as ever, and the new West Java aftercare home received its first residents!

Read on to learn how your monthly partnership with Compassion First leads to high school graduations, stronger parent-and-daughter communication, new government partnerships, and girls overcoming the trauma of trafficking by recognizing their immeasurable worth.

A new resident and school graduations:

There is a new resident at Sarah’s House! Please join us in praying that she feels welcome and encouraged.

June is graduation season in both the US and Indonesia! At Sarah’s House, we celebrated five different graduations - two from high school, two from junior high school, and one from an intensive Bible school! We are so proud of these young women, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for them.

Personal goals and summer fun:

Each resident is eagerly pursuing the personal goals she’s identified with the help of her Individual Care Plan (ICP) team. Most of the girls' parents are also engaged in learning during home visits from their daughters and CF staff. The girls and their parents are working together on improving their communication and family goal-setting!

It’s summer break for the girls! They are looking forward to fun group activities, including the annual Shine program. Shine is a program that teaches young women how to identify their own worth, strength, and purpose. Each session has a special theme, and the girls always enjoy dressing up for each lesson.

Many of the girls in Sarah’s House are also participating in their church’s youth group! We are happy they are connecting with new friends.

The first residents in West Java:

The West Java Aftercare Home team had been training to receive their first resident for months when local police asked them to provide short-term care for six new girls! The team rose to the challenge and modified our long-term aftercare program to provide two weeks of counseling, group sessions, resilience-building, and life skills training in a loving and stable environment.

At the end of the time, the girls gave positive feedback, sharing how valued they felt. One survivor shared, “I never knew I could find a place that loved me more than my family.”

The local social department was very grateful and complimented our team, stating, “We have been looking for an organization like CF for a long time, and you are here at the right time.” After two weeks, the girls returned to their homes. CF staff are keeping in touch with them, and some expressed interest in returning for long-term aftercare.

THANK YOU for supporting these young women in their healing through your financial gifts. We could not do this work without your faithful partnership.
