Flower workshop
Almost all flowers that can be bought in Slovak flower shops are being imported from foreign countries. We have really a very small own production. However, last years customers have started looking for locally grown flowers with zero use of pesticides and herbicides. Our organisation has developed a cooperation with flower farm and has planned to learn families in needy situations how to grow flowers and make various flower products, such as bunch of flowers or garlands. Lubka, 37 years old, mother od four children decided to join the project. "I do not have a lot of opportunities to grow the flowers, but I really like to make flower bunches and work with dried flowers. I have offered flower products to local community and been suprised by big interest. It is possibility how to earn extra money." There has been 3 workshops during 2019 and we are planning to invite new families for next year.
Pumpkin and beetroot cookies
What to do with vegetables surplus? - was the important questions for our families. By organising our annual street festival we have found out, that people really love vegetable cakes. A local bakehouse helpes us to originate a unique receipt for pumpkin and beetroot cookies. They are sugar free, so suitable for diabetes patients. One third of their weight make the pumpking or beetroot. Cookies are tasty and healthy, perfect in combination with coffee. They also create a system of local economy. The bakehouse buys pumpkins from our families, produce cookies that are being sold at local regional shops.
Project is run by Misia mladych. Thank you for supporting them and thus supporting young Slovak families in finding their way to financial independence.
