Every summer, our association together with families organize summer festival, where families in need present their home made or home grown products. In the course of last years we have organized herb, pumpkin, bean, vegetable and beetrot festival. This year's theme was Poppy seeds!
The festival does not only present work of the families but it also promotes healthy food, which is based on local production. That is why the festival is free of charge and open for people from the region.
We were really surprised by high attendance at Poppy seed festival, held on August, 11th. Almost one thousand visitors attended the festival. There were various games and creative workshop for children, such as face drawing, fruit finding, etc. But children were most looking forward to tombola, where they won several useful prizes. Local producers of healthy food and craftsman presented their work as well.
Our families were offering a lot of nice and useful products: dried flowers, garlands, beeswax candles, pumkins, zucchinis, bitumen oil, herbs, hand sewn bags, etc.
Silvia, mother of six children (two of them physically handicapped) said: "A great festival, where we all gathered and got the opportunity to present our work and also earn some extra money."
Misia mladých (Youth's Mission) strives to help to families in forgotten Slovak region of Orava. Firstly, the organization offers support in difficult life situations (death of a parent or partner, sickness, and abuse). Secondly, Misia mladých assists the families in becoming self-sufficient and teaches them to grow vegetables and breed animals in order to take care of themselves, their children, parents and close ones.
Thank you for your support.
