Pumpkin and legumen for all!
The weather of this year is pleasing to vegetables and our growers. The families involved in the project enjoy their own crops as well as earned money for sold vegetables.
In total, more than 1,000 kg of vegetables have been produced, most of them squid, squash, spinach, garlic and peas. In addition to freezing, they also try to store it by bottling. One of our families baked excellent and healthy cakes from zucchini.
On 6th of August, we have prepared a bean festival with the Orava families in difficult life situations.
We wanted to draw attention to the importance of legumes in human nutrition and to tell visitors about why legumes can be hoped to resolve hunger in the world. Legumes are able to withstand climate change, require a much smaller area for cultivation and are a full replacement for animal protein. Visitors could buy vegetables from their families, taste the bean soup and various sweet and savory cakes made from beans, lentils or chicory. Local craftsmen offered their products and a lot of interesting contests were waiting for the children.
