Help marginalized Mexican children and teenagers

By Martha Givaudan | Director

Over the past eight months, the Juega Más program has successfully laid the foundation for a profound transformation within Mexico City's public schools. Our primary achievement has been activating a powerful movement across 27 schools, directly impacting the lives of 8,552 students and empowering 63 Physical Education teachers and 26 school principals. The program has moved beyond theory into tangible action, with 18 active School Movement Committees already formed and leading change.

A truly transformative finding has been the leadership of girls, who are present in 100% of the established committees, driving inclusive play and redefining participation in school sports. This early success highlights our program's core strength: building sustainable systems from within. Our focus now shifts to consolidating these gains and scaling the impact to reach even more children.

Impact in Action

Our strategy is a two-pronged approach: direct school support and community-wide activation. We currently work with 27 schools (14 in Year I, 13 in Year II), with diagnostic assessments completed in 26 of them. The engagement numbers tell a story of growing momentum:
*   Student Leaders: 86 students (44 boys, 42 girls) have been identified as leaders in initial surveys.
*   Educator Engagement: 55 teachers and 14 principals participated in our foundational training.
*   Ongoing Support: 45 teachers have received personalized in-school visits and coaching.

Stories from the Field

The impact is best seen through the stories of our participants:
*   In one school, girls co-designed their own activity circuit, taking ownership of their play space and boosting confidence.
*   Another school celebrated as its Movement Committee successfully involved parents for the first time in a sports event, strengthening the school-family bond.
*   A resourceful teacher gained recognition for innovating with recycled materials, creating new sports equipment and teaching lessons in sustainability and creativity.

The Road Ahead:

We enter the next phase with clear, actionable goals:
1.  Ensure all School Movement Committees are actively leading projects.
2.  Collectively earn over 100 "achievement stars" through school activities.
3.  Host the annual Juega Más Festival for 500+ participants on April 25.
4.  Convene over 100 educators at our Annual Congress on May 21.

The immediate calendar includes reinforcement workshops in February, ongoing school visits through May, and community "School Festivals" in June.

A Movement in Bloom

These first eight months have been about planting seeds and nurturing them with consistency. The next six months will be about watching the first blossoms of change emerge in schoolyards across the city. The journey toward active, inclusive, and joyful schools is well underway, and with continued support, its impact will keep growing.

Thank you for being part of this movement.
