We (Jessica and Gayle of the GLK Student Fund) recently visited the GLK Student Fund students and trustees in Bukoba,Tanzania. During this time, we visited students at 11 different schools, including several of those supported through our GlobalGiving campaigns.
Annagrace: Annagrace was the first student we supported through our first GlobalGiving Campaign four years ago. Four years ago, Annagrace was living in a dangerous situation and unstable home. Through the help our GlobalGiving donors, we were able to place her in Kibeta English Medium Primary School (KEMPS). Since graduating from, KEMPS, Annagrace has been flourishing in her students at Hekima Girls Boarding School. During our trip, we visited with Annagrace to see how she was doing. She reports that she's doing well in school (and her reports support this), and is enjoying her time at secondary school. We also met with Annagrace's headteacher and one of her teachers who had nothing but positive things to report.
Ines: We met with Ines and also with her mother while on our trip. We stopped by her mother's kiosk to purchase up some shoes' for students. She reported that Ines is doing well at KEMPS. We had the opportunity to catch up with Ines in her classroom and later at the school graduation ceremony. She is doing well as she prepares for the standard four national exams.
Susan and Eveline: We had the pleasant experience of watching Susan and Eveline during dance practice for the school's graduation ceremony at Karume Day and Boarding English Medium Primary School. They seemed very happy, healthy, and to be doing well in studies and in having fun with fellow students. Their headmaster gave glowing reports.
During this visit, we were unable to visit Cynthia, Sara, Aidanius and Raymond as they attend school in a different region than the one we visited. However, our trustees report they are doing well.
We were so excited to see our students in person and see them happy, and thriving in their studies. Thank you all for your continuing support of our project.
