The GLK Student Fund would like to announce its latest GlobalGiving scholarship candidate, Winston. We first met Winston and his family on our 2017 trip to Tanzania. Winston, his mother, and two siblings live in a particularly remote, and impoverished area of Tanzania called Maruku, which is known for its tea plantations. His mother, who is a 35-year old widow, does her best to provide for her family, but finds it challenging to balance the care of three young children with maintaining steady employment harvesting the local tea fields.
We are hoping to raise enough money to send seven-year old Winston to Bethania, a primary school with a boarding option. This way, his mother will be better able to balance her time between working to support her family and caring for her children. The trustees have reviewed Winston's academic performance and he exhibits much promise.
Winston is currently in grade two. For him to complete primary school (through grade seven), he would need approximately $3,900 ($650 per year). Please help us support his talents by making a contribution.
