1. Introduction

Dear Esteemed Donors and GlobalGiving Team,

Warm greetings from Tanzania. On behalf of our entire team and the youth we serve, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude for your continued support and trust in our mission. Our project — Help 200 Youth in Sustainable Agriculture in Tanzania — continues to symbolize hope for young people and women seeking sustainable livelihoods through agriculture.

Although this reporting period (June–October 2025) has been marked by ongoing financial constraints, our team has remained fully committed to advancing this initiative through planning, networking, and advocacy activities.

2. Current Status and Activities

Unfortunately, due to the absence of new donations during this period, we were unable to implement new on-ground farming or training activities as planned. However, our efforts have been focused on sustaining momentum and preparing for future implementation once funding becomes available.

Key highlights include:

• Community Engagement: We continued engaging with youth and local farmers to maintain their interest and readiness to resume agricultural activities when resources are secured.
• Stakeholder Communication: We have reached out to local agricultural offices and development partners to explore potential funding collaborations and technical support.
• Project Readiness: Updated training materials, farming plans, and partnership frameworks have been reviewed to ensure immediate readiness when funds are received.

These ongoing efforts reflect our deep commitment to ensuring that no progress made in previous phases is lost, and that our mission remains alive within the communities we serve.

3. Challenges

The main challenge continues to be lack of funding, which has affected our ability to:

• Acquire and prepare agricultural land for training and demonstration plots.
• Purchase irrigation tools, seeds, and farming materials.
• Conduct structured youth training and mentorship sessions.

Despite this, our volunteer members and community partners remain motivated and are continuing to advocate for the importance of youth-led sustainable agriculture in Tanzania.

4. Future Plans

Once financial support resumes, we plan to:

• Launch Two Demonstration Farms in the Ushirombo and Katoro areas to serve as training and production hubs.
• Train 100 New Youth Participants on sustainable agriculture and agribusiness.
• Introduce Drip Irrigation Systems to promote year-round cultivation and climate-resilient farming.
• Strengthen Market Linkages to help youth sell their farm produce and sustain income.

We are pleased to share with you the latest progress on our initiative "Help 200 Youth in Sustainable Agriculture in Tanzania." Your unwavering support and trust have kept this project alive and impactful, even amidst financial and environmental challenges. As of June 21, 2025, we are encouraged by the collective milestones we’ve achieved and the resilience demonstrated by our youth beneficiaries.

1. Project Overview and Impact

Since this project began, we have remained committed to empowering young people and women through sustainable agricultural practices. Thanks to your donations and continued belief in our mission, we have built strong foundations across several rural communities in mainland Tanzania. Key achievements to date include:

• Formation and empowerment of youth groups such as Jitume kwa Kilimo, who are now independently applying crop rotation and organic farming techniques.
• Collaboration with local organizations including Joint People Development Organization (JOPEDO), which has resulted in more youth and community members embracing home gardening and sustainable horticulture.
• Successful awareness and mobilization campaigns that have reached over 400 individuals, many of whom have begun engaging in micro-agriculture or are awaiting training opportunities.

2. Recent Achievements (February – June 2025)

Despite limited resources, we have made meaningful progress since our last report:

• Land Acquisition Progress: We have identified two promising sites in the Ushirombo, Geita and Nuruka, Kigoma areas. These lands, once secured, will be used for demonstration farms and training fields for youth-led agricultural activities.
• Hands-on Training and Youth Engagement: More than 50 youth have engaged in small-scale farming using locally available resources, growing vegetables and legumes with guidance from our volunteer agronomists.
• Community-Based Learning Sessions: We conducted three sensitization workshops on sustainable farming, reaching both youth and community elders who are willing to support land use and water resource sharing.
• Strengthening Networks: We have entered new discussions with local agricultural offices, irrigation technicians, and private fertilizer suppliers for technical support and potential resource subsidies.

3. Ongoing Challenges

Despite these successes, we continue to face critical challenges that limit our ability to scale the project as planned:

• Funding Gaps: We lack sufficient funds to purchase essential farming tools, seeds, fertilizers, and irrigation equipment (such as money-maker pumps and drip irrigation kits).
• Land Leasing and Licensing: Formal land leasing agreements and local business registration remain pending due to high administrative and legal costs.
• Insufficient Training Resources: Training materials, protective gear, and demonstration tools are still inadequate to support all the youth who are now willing to participate.

4. Priority Needs

To implement the next stage of the project effectively, we are seeking financial and material support for the following:

• Irrigation systems for year-round cultivation
• Certified seeds and organic fertilizers
• Water storage tanks and drip kits
• Farming hand tools and protective gloves
• Training manuals, transport, and demo site development

5. Future Outlook and Goals (July – October 2025)

Our goals for the next quarter are to:

• Finalize land acquisition for two model farms
• Recruit and train 100 new youth and women participants
• Launch two Sustainable Agriculture Centers in Ushirombo and Nuruka
• Establish a seed bank and pilot irrigation system
• Build partnerships for long-term market linkages for farm produce
