Prasanna aged 30 years with her two children in the photograph, who is one of the beneficiaries from the program activities extended by the project. She lives with her husband Chandrasekhar in Project Street slum in Srikalahasti town.
Both are illiterates and work as labourers. She has one male and one female child. During her second delivery she had many health problems and visited STEPS Urban Health Centre (STEPS UHC) regularly for the checkups. With the advice of Medical Officer, she started taking nutritious food and prescribed medicines.
From the beginning of 9th month she has not taken the diet properly due to afraid of the delivery and became weak. One day her mother-in-law observed bleeding and immediately approached STEPS UHC. She was examined and referred to Maternity hospital in Tirupati for delivery. After examining her the doctors have done the surgery and Prasanna gave birth to a female child.
STEPS NGO taking care of the health of Prasanna and her children. During the field visits, ANMs explained her about the importance of Immunisation to her children. Every month she is bringing her children to STEPS UHC for checkups and they were regularly immunised.
Prasanna said “Now I know the importance of health care and awareness. Whenever there is health problem, I am approaching STEPS UHC for treatment and advice. I am attending all Health awareness camps organised by them. My children were immunised free cost without financial burden on us. We are living happily without health problems.”
