Dear friend of Go Girl Ghana,
the center has been running for more than 6 months now. We definitely had our ups and down. The main difficulty is to get girls to come to the classes consistently. The same problems as education has in general, we do too. It will remain so till the system changes and all we can do is be available and look for smart new ways to get the girls there. The main concerns are centered around, not seeing the importance and therefore not prioritizing this above house chores, work to support the family and such. But the good news is, we do also have extremely dedicated girls who take their classes very seriously! They are enjoying the classes which improve their computer skills, the ability to do research for their homework and also have fun in watching movies online. This is why we have started it and why our donors donate! :)
And, we are proud to announce that we have the first 3 graduates! They have completed the basic computer skills training which is all about the general use of a computer and microsoft office usage. We are very proud of them and because of that, despite there were only 3 girls, we did a small graduation. Also to inspire the other girls of course.
It was a fun day and what particularly warmed our GGG hearts were the proud parents who were there and were not afraid to show how proud they are!
We are so greatful to our donors who made this possible. And we hope that our donors will continue to give. Because despite the fact that the first hurdle of opening is done; we will keep needing to pay our teacher, the internet connection, the transport to get the needy girls to the center and so many more things. So please donate or share our story with friends and those who could be willing to support.
We are grateful!
Warm regards,
the GGG team
