Digital skills are in growing demand and they are top-paying skills. We need to equalize the field and ensure girls also gain access to the digital space. This enables women and girls to persue economic independence which in turn allows them to secure a better future for themselves and their families. GGG wants to create a safe place for girls to learn about the digital world. We will offer free classes for girls between 10 and 21 who are part of the Go Girl Groups.
Digital technology has advanced more rapidly than any innovation in history - reaching around 50% of the developing world's population in only two decades and transforming societies. This wave of change will have a profound impact on the world. But girls in especially Africa are still in the back seat. 24% of women of which only 15% can afford to use it. In Ghana 27% of woman & girls above the age of 11 are illiterate. 25% of girls do not go past Junior Highschool, only 10% make it to Tertiary
Providing girls with access to digital education will allow them to safely gain digital skills. This will prepare girls to be part of the digitized future on an equalized playing field. For them this also demonstrates that there are different vocational opportunities available to them. This will inspire these girls to stay in school. And enables women and girls to have economic independence which in turn allows them to secure a better future for themselves and their families.
