Giving Kids a Smile Like Yours In Colombia

With the donnations received during January, February and March 2015, two children continued their treatment for three more months.  Isabela returned with many problems in her mouth.  She received important treatment to improve her poor oral health conditions.  She was very brave and allowed that all the required resins, exodontias and crowns were practiced. Now her smile looks very healthy and she is ready to start her orthodontic treatment.  Meanwhile she is enjoying her newborn brother.

Tatiana is actually 11 years old and she is receiving dental treatment with appliances which are preparing her for a new surgery in which a bone graft will be put in her gum, so that her teeth have a good support to avoid loosing them.  She is under difficult familiar situations and is requiring the support of your donnations so that she doesn´t abandon her treatment.

The other children:  Juan Sebastian, for being the youngest one, is in a stage in which he only requires support for his adequate development to be prepared to enter school in the same conditions other children do.  Laura, Juan David and Nicol are attending on timely basis to all their dentist, speech therapy and psychogy treatment sessions. Maria Angelica and Juan David, who live far from Bogota, are actually receiving virtual speech threrapy taking advantage of the technological resources nowadays.

With donations received during this period (September-December 2014), 4 children continued their integral treatment for two more months. Juan continued to attend speech therapy sessions showing a very good improvement in his language skills; actually he is a good conversationalist, well integrated to his socialization activities and without pronunciation difficulties. Laura has also attended to her speech therapy sessions to improve her articulation and psychology therapy because she is experiencing some integration problems at school due to teasing by their classmates for which strengthening of her self-esteem is necessary and preparing her for handling this situation; she continues with her dentistry treatment. Neitan initiated treatment with dental orthopedic appliances in order to prepare him for the next nose surgery, for which he needs a “nasal shaper”. Juan D is becoming familiar with a new environment because, together with his family, moved to another town. This type of changes is difficult for them to handle, therefore psychology therapies are very important at this time, for his adaptation. Additional to this, he has had some inconveniences with his dental appliances and various repairs have been necessary, which have interfered with his treatment´s normal course.

Fisulab celebrated 2014 year end with their children, which was possible thanks to several benefactors´ donations, which allowed us to offer some refreshments, gifts, recreation and have an integration journey together with their families.
