During the COVID19 emergency, which we are going through in Colombia and in the world, in the Corporation SUPERARSE, we continue to serve unprotected children and families in Medellin-Colombia, guaranteeing that homeless children remain protected in the boarding school, to children and families who attend daily for food, education and psychological support, we implement different forms of work, reaching them through telephone communication, distributing a weekly market that guarantees that they will not be hungry and sending school activities for children virtually.

We have been in compulsory quarantine for 3 weeks in Colombia and there is still more time to go, most of the families we serve depend on informal work or selling fruits or flowers on the street, they have not been able to go out to work and they are experiencing many difficulties in survive, many do not have a permanent home, they live in temporary lodgings. In SUPERARSE we are doing everything necessary to distribute markets every week, around 700 people have already benefited and we want to continue joining efforts to buy more FOOD every week for poor people in Medellin.

Your support is very important to them, HELP US TO HELP THEM !!!

In SUPERARSE each day we work so that all children who live with us in the boarding school can have a better life. Many of them have suffered sexual abuse, mistreatment of different types, abandonment or are orphans who hope that one day a family will come to welcome them.

TONY, 13 years old (not the real name) has 2 younger siblings, they all live in the boarding school for 2 years, they are very intelligent, tidy, respectful children and they dream of having a family to adopt them. However, we know that in Colombia it will not be easy for this to happen, adoption for children over 10 years of age is less than 5%. Like them, many children will remain in our care until they are of age and can fend for themselves, meanwhile in Overcoming we must give them all the love, tools and education so that they become good and productive men.

With the help of people like you, we will continue to give support to children who, like Tony and his siblings, hardly find a family to adopt them.
CONTRIBUTE TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF CHILDREN WITHOUT PARENTS!!!

Thanks to the sponsors who supported us through GlobalGiving, in 2019 we received US $ 5,884 that served us for the welfare of the children served.

The total value invested during 2019, in the boarding school for the welfare of children was $ 1,222,886,778 Colombian pesos equivalent to approximately US $ 405,000.

In the boarding school 76 children benefited during 2019, 13 people worked tirelessly daily to assist them and 7 volunteers who bring all their love and knowledge to make children feel that they are not alone.  The children benefited, having a loving place to live, adequate food and nutrition, education, sports, recreational and cultural activities, clothing, toys, parties and visits to many recreational places in the city, In addition to psychological and social support for them and their families

On December 13 children received the sacrament of baptism and 21 made the first communion of the catholic religion.  In Superarse and in Colombia, the most practiced religion is the Catholic religion, however we respect any other belief or religion that children practice from their families of origin, currently more than 80% of children in boarding school,  practice the Catholic religion and voluntarily they attend the offices when proposed, also the fulfillment of the sacraments is done with the consent of the children and their families.

We are very proud to tell you that 90% of the children approved the school grade, which in Colombia ends in the month of November.

Thank you very much to all of you who linked and still believe in our work so that children in Colombia have a better future.  CAN WE CONTINUE WITH YOUR SUPPORT?

My name is Juan and I am from a very small town, six hours away from Medellin, Colombia. I live now in a boarding school called SUPERARSE because I don't have a dad and my mom works very far in another city. I almost never see her. My grandma is very poor and couldn't take care of me anymore, so I wasn't attending school and we had almost no food. At the boarding school, there are another 50 kids and I have everything I need: I have food every day, they give me clothes, and I am going to school to learn. During my vacation, I went with a volunteer family who took me into their home* and treated me with love, so I could feel how it is like to have a family like that for a lifetime… I would like that very much!.

In September, a group of people came to the boarding school and threw us a birthday party, gave us candy, cake, ice cream and toys. The best part was when Spiderman showed up and we took a picture. In October, I went to camp with my classmates and we had a lot of fun, I learned to swim, and was taught about the value of true friendship and honesty, and other things like that. During my time here, I have been very happy because my teachers and counselors give me for free everything I need and worry about my well being and my growth. For Christmas, I would love a remote control car and a Lego. THANKS CORPORATION SUPERARSE!

In October the children had the opportunity to live an outdoor camping experience from October 7 to 10, with the aim of promoting the management of emotions in children through recreational and reflexive activities, giving continuity to the development process of the individual life project.

On October 31, we celebrated the Day of Sweetness, with the theme of the circus, the children enjoyed dressing up as clowns or superheroes, with sports activities and especially with candies and fun food throughout the day.

Always looking for the following objectives:
Strengthening life skills: emphasizing the development of coping skills, decision making, critical thinking and autonomy to prevent self-destructive behaviors
Activities to stimulate and develop the skills, abilities and vocational, sports and artistic interests of each child.
Cultural, sports and recreational development opportunities for the construction of meaning and consolidation of their future life projects.

WITH YOUR SUPPORT WE CAN CONTINUE TO DEVELOP THESE AND OTHER ACTIVITIES FOR A HEALTHY AND DREAM-FILLED CHILDHOOD.
