This project provides safe housing, Montessori-based care, and psychosocial support for 50 children in Medellin, Colombia, who are under state protection after suffering physical, emotional, or sexual violence, neglect, abandonment, or a parent's incarceration. In our boarding program, children receive individualized accompaniment that restores dignity and opens opportunities. We also work with families so, when safe, children can reunify at home.
In Medellin, children under ICBF protection have survived violence, neglect, abandonment, or a parent's incarceration. Many arrive with trauma, interrupted schooling, and unsafe living conditions. Without specialized care, stable housing, and supportive adults, they face continued risk of exploitation, dropout, and chronic stress. Families often lack resources to provide safe care, delaying reunification and a dignified path forward.
Superarse's boarding program protects 50 children through safe housing, nutritious meals, and 24/7 caregiving. Using Montessori pedagogy, we provide individualized accompaniment that rebuilds trust, autonomy, and routines for learning. Children access tutoring, arts and sports, and evidence-based psychosocial care. Our team also works with caregivers through counseling and home visits so, when conditions are met, reunification is safe and sustainable.
Stable housing plus Montessori-based care reduces trauma symptoms, improves school continuity, and strengthens protective factors. Over time, children gain self-regulation, confidence, and skills for life. Family accompaniment increases safe reunifications and decreases reentry into protection. The project helps break cycles of violence and exclusion, creating healthier families and a safer Medellin where children can learn, belong, and thrive.
