Hello, dear supporters!
I’m here to update you on the work of the medical center which is run primarily thanks to your generosity – and I can tell you, they’ve been working hard!
Over the last threemonths 27 new patients have been welcomed into the medical center and a total of 54 examinations were performed. Both the obstetrician-gynaecologist and the paediatrician working at the center have been treating a long list of young mothers and children, a lot of whom had it not been for the center, would most likely not have received medical attention at all.
The radiant young mom you see in the picture next to Dr Baynova is Maggie – she is 20 years old and is the mother of three. Her youngest, in the arms of our committed paediatrician, is Zdravko – and he is only three months old, at the very beginning of the scary long journey called life.
Maggie and her partner are raising their children together, but they have a verylow income and live in very poor housing conditions. Upon showing up at the door of the medical center, Maggie shared that her children have not regularly visited a GP. Not only is this about to change now that she’s started visiting the medical center, but Maggie will also visit the OB/GYN next time she comes, for an examination and to discuss getting an IUD, as she’s considering getting one to prevent future unwanted pregnancies.
In the meantime, her little one, Zdravko, will be getting special care – with his health being more fragile due to his being born prematurely. After the consultation, guidelines were given for prophylaxis with vitamin D and iron because he was diagnosed withanaemia. It will no longer go untreated – and all of this is because you’ve extended a helping hand.
Like always, thank you for being here and making stories like Maggie and Zdravko’s possible!
