As Siargao enters the first wave of typhoons and faces increasing heat, access to clean and safe drinking water is more critical than ever. Our community is now experiencing daily power interruptions, sometimes multiple times in just a few hours. While writing this report on May 1st at 10:00 AM, we’ve already experienced four power cuts this morning alone. These frequent outages make the operation of conventional water refill systems highly unstable.
Thanks to our the blessing in the form of the SkyHydrant system, we’re still able to provide up to 10,000 liters of safe water daily—even without electricity. This gravity-fed system has become a lifeline, especially during emergency conditions when other stations and suppliers are unable to operate.
With typhoon season officially underway and the heat index rising dangerously across the Philippines, schools, health centers, and families are depending on our water program. For teachers already struggling to cover basic classroom needs, being able to access free and safe water is one less burden to carry.
We are grateful for the support that made it possible to shift to a more resilient and sustainable system. However, the demand continues to grow, and we are doing our best to meet it while preparing for even tougher conditions in the months ahead.
Thank you for standing with us in this important mission.
