Student Nurses Provide Assistance to the University

The physical examination is one essential part in the enrolment process of the University.
In this process, the student nurses play an essential part by assisting in determining the vital signs and in performing basic healthcare duties to the enrollees. This exposure will help them deal with people, from all walks of life, and to prepare them for the real world of work outside the peripheries of the University.
The student nurses are given the chance to apply into practice the theory and skills they have learned from the classroom and laboratory learning sessions.
In this way, the student nurses grasp of their work in the future and its importance to the welfare of the people especially in the aspect of healthcare.

Health and Wellness Advocacy Extended to the Community

The promotion of health and wellness is at the heart of the nursing program of Foundation University. In caring for the community, the student nurses can learn the value of service – which is integral in the education system of the educational insitution.
Just recently during the University Digital Expo held at a local mall, the student nurses with the guidance of their mentors, had a mobile clinic for the passersby to avail of blood pressure taking and blood sugar testing.
By way of helping the community, they will also become responsible healthcare professionals not only assisting in the curing process but all the more be active in promoting prevention of lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and hypertension.

College of Nursing Produces Relevant Studies

Four research works from Foundation University College of Nursing recently qualified for the paper presentations at the International Conference of Nurses 8 (ICONS 8) held November 23 at Marco Polo Hotel and Residences, Cebu City.
The 4 research papers with corresponding authors are as follows:
- A Study of Nurses’ Empathy in Three Departments at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital Perceived Teaching
- Effectiveness of Clinical Instructors in Selected Colleges of Nursing in Negros Oriental
- The Study Habits Among Student Nurses in Selected Schools in Dumaguete City
- The Lived Experience of Formal Caregivers Caring for Non-Relative Patients
The International Conference of Nurses 8 (ICONS 8) aims to provide a forum for presentation of evidence-based nursing researches that are relevant to the call of the times. It also aims to create an atmosphere of academic sharing on the current and emerging trends in the aspect of nursing care and to promote collaboration and linkages among academic institutions offering nursing education within the archipelago and abroad.
Foundation University recognizes the importance of research work that is relevant to the need of the times especially in the aspect of healthcare as an essential factor towards nation-building.
