Community service in the aspect of healthcare comes as the prime goal of nursing education. Through community engagements, student nurses will be able to realize their role in nation-building and to further aspire for the improvement of healthcare services up to the grassroots level.
The students nurses are being exposed to the community through ocular surveys made in the barangays of the nearby towns of Dumaguete as part of the activities under the Community Health Nursing subject.
At a time when education seems so estranged to the needs of the society, the activities will help the students nurses to realize the importance of their future work as it directly respond to the basic needs of the community by providing healthcare services.
Through the said community engagements, the nursing graduates and professionals will become passionate about their work and come to a deeper realization about their noble profession, due to their exposure with the grassroots.
