Our patients like Marshmallow appreciate your help

Marshmallow

Thanks to our supporters, Marshmallow got the gift of Iife this Christmas

Marshmallow is a 2 year old Bichon and was hit by a car on Christmas Day.

She was brought to Romania Animal Rescue by her owners at around 8pm on Christmas Day night.

Our vets and vet techs on duty quickly assessed Marshmallow's condition and discovered she had a broken pelvis and two broken back legs. You can see from the X-ray that the bone was protruding through the skin on one of her legs.

Poor Marshmallow was in extreme shock and was suffering from hypothermia. Our team weren't sure she would live but they went straight to work and did everything they could to save her.

They worked through the night and Marshmallow was given every treatment possible including antibiotics, intravenous painkillers and drugs to stop bleeding and help her body recover from the blood she had lost from her injuries. By morning time, her condition had stabilised.

Marshmallow was too weak to have surgery straight away but her condition has been monitored constantly and she was strong enough to have her first surgery to repair one leg yesterday and the second leg was repaired today.

Marshmallow's owners cannot afford to pay for her veterinary treatment and decided to sign her over to the care of Romania Animal Rescue. We will care for her and find her a home when she has recovered from her ordeal.

We treat hundreds of dogs and cats like Marshmallow each year. These sweethearts need long term aftercare at our clinics as well as with Diana who does foster care for us. They need highly nutritious food to regain health and strength Your donations make this vital aspect of our continuing help possible.

Veterinary Care, Compassion, and Food

Veterinary care, compassion, and food all need providing to insure the best outcomes for the animals we treat.

We have hundreds of patients that come to our Homeless Animals Hospital Program located in Bucharest area and in Craiova. At the Center of Hope, Bucharest and Family Vet clinic, Craiova, our team of vets and techs provide the excellent veterinary services for the most needy animals, but these animals all need food to insure a healthy recovery.

Some animals stay with us for long periods of time due to serious injuries. High quality nutrition brings them back from malnutrition as well as healing their broken little bodies.

Some recent examples are Chocolate, Mia, and Mollie and Cleo.

Chocolate was brought to us with a diaphragmatic hernia and a leg broken in two places. Immediate surgery was needed to save him from suffocating from the hernia as his organs were pressing on his lungs. This little sweetheart received all his treatments thanks to our donors, and is now happy, eating, and regaining his strength.

Mia was a feral cat living on the streets. She was hit by a car and brought into our Homeless Animals Hospital Program for free treatment, thanks to our donors. She too had to have immediate live saving surgery from a diaphragmatic hernia that was pressing on her lungs. She also had to have one leg amputated and another needed surgery for a bad break. She is now resting comfortably and eating wonderful nourishing food, a far cry from what she lived on during her time on the streets:

Meet Mollie and Cleo. Rescued as abandoned infant kittens off the streets by our vet tech Anda. These two little ones were bottle fed at our Center of Hope in Bucharest until they were strong enough to eat on their own. Now look at these little ones eat! :

Food for Center of Hope patients and Happy Paws

Hello Dear Friends,

Romania Animal Rescue is tasked with supplying food for the patients of our Homeless Animals Hospital project at the Center of Hope near Bucharest. We also try to help Happy Paws, the shelter in Moreni, that has about 150 animals.

The Center of Hope treats hundreds of animals, and will continue to treat thousands more. Most if not all of these animals have lived in poverty, and need special nutrient rich food to prosper and heal from their injuries or diseases. Many animals we treat have been hit by cars and have broken legs, hips, or backs. Many have skin diseases, some have parvo. Since they often remain with us for a long duration, we need to provide not only the veterinary care but the room and food for them as well. Little Thelma is a current patient at the Center of Hope. She was kicked onto the street (literally) because the family who owned her mother did not want any pups. The kick broke her pelvis. Ylva brought her to the Center where she is recovering nicely. She will go to a home in Sweden, and her mother has now been spayed.

Happy Paws shelter is run by Anda, who also is a veterinary technician for Romania Animal Rescue. The city of Moreni "offered" Anda to take over the city shelter, the other option being that the city would destroy the dogs. So Anda took over the shelter and provides the best care possible for these dogs. Running the shelter means caring for all these animals, including providing treatments and food for those recovering from illness. One such pup was Bilbo, who had parvo and was near death when Anda found him. Nursed back to health, he survived and is now living at the shelter waiting for adoption.
