Dear friends and supporters,
I`m Mihaela Raducanu and I`m running an animal welfare charity in Tecuci, since 2009. Every day we deal with all kind of cases – injured dogs and cats from the streets or the public shelter in our town, very young puppyes and kittens abandoned on the streets, parks, railway station, that would have no chance to survive. We do our best to provide funds to pay the medical care, food and housing at the vet clinic, but hardly get them. Then we need to take the animals out from the clinic and keep them safe until they are adopted. The adoptions are going slowly, too. There are so many that need homes…
Unfortunately we don`t have any shelter and try to keep them in foster, but we need to provide the food. The food resources are even smaller – this is the most difficult to provide. Sometimes we end up taking food by credit, and the debts are getting bigger and bigger. We only hope that someday we will be able to pay the food bills. It`s such a frustrating feeling when we see how they need us to feed them and give them a safe shelter, the minimum to survive. But we can`t stop hoping that there are kind and compassionate and generous people who can share a little with these poor animals.
Now we have 25 dogs and 6 cats in foster and need help. Hope you can support us provide their food, until they will be adopted. So help us God!
Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.

Dear Friends,
As you may have heard, Romania has passed a new law that states that dogs will no longer be allowed to roam freely on the streets. If they are not provided places in homes, yards, or private shelters, they will be rounded up and put into public facilities where they will be held for 14 working days, and if not adopted, exterminated.
Many private charities with shelters in Romania are now taking in numerous dogs to protect them. These charities are strapped for funds as the demand upon them has increased. Romania Animal Rescue does our very best to help these private shelters by providing free spays/neuters and vet care as our funding allows. But the need for food is enormous.
One shelter we currently help is in Moreni, Happy Paws. They recently expanded their shelter to take in city dogs and are at maximum capacity at 180 dogs....that is 180 mouths to feed, and 2000 kilos of food per month to raise the funds for. Another shelter we help is Speranta shelter in Craiova, and they have over 300 mouths to feed. Both these charities are active in adoptions as well. As you can imagine the costs for these impoverished charities are huge. This is why we are trying to alleviate some of their burden. I hope you can help us to help them.
I have posted a few photos from Happy Paws in Moreni. Thank you so much for your help for the Romanian dogs, who by no choice of their own were born into a country that is overwhelmed with too many dogs and not enough good homes.
I wish you the best,
Nancy Janes

They are asking for our help to feed the dogs and the many puppies this cold winter that are now living at the shelter. Can you help us to help them please? Here is what Mihaela wrote to RAR:

Please If you are able to donate and help dogs from PS Tecuci your help will be so welcome! You can help the dogs with donation for food so we can provide them with a better and rich nutrition for adults ones or even if you are able to donate food for them. The little puppies who also needs special food like : milk, rice, canned meat etc. and we need to feed them everyday with these eatable. Also if you are able to help and donate for vaccination, medicine for the treatment of those who need it , beds, bedding , vitamins for the weak ones etc. Every small donation means so much for all the dogs from PS because we can provide them with more food for the adults, with special food for puppies , with vitamins, vaccination so they can be healthy and have a chance for adoption and for a better life, a life that every dog deserve ! Hello our dear friends! I want to thank each of you who helped me feed all my poor animals!18cats and 23 dogs whould have starved without your kindness and generosity. I cant even express in words what that means to me! Its such a wonderful feeling to know I m not alone in this fight and that people do care about these poor souls very much! Recently, I have received a very important and life saving donation of 1000$ that I, as a simple country woman, never thought I could get for my dogs and cats and I cant stop crying over this act of love towards animals!
Thank you so much to all of you who donated to my cause and made it possible to feed so many animals! As some of you already know, my husband and I took all these poor souls in when we could afford their food but since he lost his job due to big health problems,we just cannot pay for their food anymore and cannot put them in the street again either. Most of our animals are old and cant eat dry food so I cook their meals myself. Its very hard to get food here because its a tiny village with just one store where they got sick of me begging them for food on credit. I would not ask for your continous help if I or my husband could keep working but sadly, that is impossible so we have no other option but to hope you wont forget about these 43 souls who count on us to survive!
All I can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support! It showed me there still are kind hearted people around and I appreciate each amount you share with these poor animals!

A month ago we received this request for help for food. Thanks to donations from you, these animals received food for last month, but the need still exists. Romania Animal Rescue was able to go to Mrs. Rugina's home and spay/neuter all the animals as well as vaccinate them and deparasite them. Please support this project for her animals' food if you can, and thank you!
41 animals starving at Visina, a poor village, next to Tecuci
Hi everyone! I hope you remember about our Spay/Neuter event from Visina village, close to Tecuci, on the 24th of September 2011. It has been a long time since then, but now the owner of those animals, Silvia Rugina, called me and told me she doesn`t have any financial resources, since her husband has lost his job.She took them before, when her husband worked in Italy and he sent her money for their food, but he became ill, lost his job, and returned to Romania. She is not a hoarder and she always asked her neighbours to keep their animals sometimes she found kittens thrown over her yard. They have 18 cats and 23 dogs. Few days ago she hardly pay to the store where she used to get food, on credit, till next month, about 1500 lei (about $ 470 or 360 Euro). This is the money she needs to feed all of them each month. She was desperately crying because she is not able to feed her animals anymore. She used to feed them with a mix of bread and boiled rice and bones. But now… they are starving, dear friends. I know how poor that village is and she has no chance to get any help from someone else. She told me they don`t want to abandon their animals, no way, but they haven`t any solution for this situation. I know how many causes we and other people have and how many times and for how many animals we asked for your help. What could we do now? Let them starve?... This woman had only 5 dogs and some cats of her own. The rest of them she adopted from the streets. They were abandoned by their owners and she couldn`t stand to see them begging for a piece of bread… She and her husband have a big heart, but now they are not able to feed their animals. 41 dogs and cats hardly have eaten few pieces of bread for two days. Dear friends, animal lovers, please, if you can help, HELP them. They would take any help --money to buy bred, rice and bones (this is cheaper) or if somebody can to donate food, it`s also welcome. Thank you very much for your support! :-( By: Mihaela Mocanu
