Dear donor,
We thank you for your generosity in continuing to help us.
With your donation, we are able to help 300 families every month, a total of 1,600 people directly impacted!
We’d like for you to meet Luísa, a single mother of three. Her youngest son was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia at birth and despite trimestral follow-ups with specialized professionals, he required surgery in which he had to have his spleen removed at just 2-years-old. Immediately after the surgery, he began a treatment that required a variety of medications to try and minimize possibly severe side effects of the disease. Unfortunately, he is regularly hospitalized. Luísa’s middle child, Maria, tends to spend more time with her aunt since her mother so frequently takes her younger brother to the hospital.
Before finding the Dara Institute, Luísa wasn’t sure if she would be able to feed her children every day and was never sure what her little boy could eat in order to keep his health condition stabile. Now that she has regular visits with nutritionists and has her monthly food card, she’s able to tend to her children’s food needs, all three of whom are learning to eat less selectively and more often.
Together we’re eliminating hunger, one family at a time.
Best wishes,
The Dara Institute Team
