DISASTER MANAGEMENT TRAINING AT THOOTHUKUDI

REPORT TITLE: DISASTER RISK REDUCTION (DRR) PROGRAMME 

PROJECT TITLE: FLOOD DISASTER RESPONSE AT TAMILNADU, S. INDIA

TARGET SITE: PUTHIYA MUNIYA SAMY PURAM, THOOTHUKUDI DISTRICTS 

 

 INFORMATION OFFERED TO THE TRAINEES DURING THE TRAINING:

  1. Types of Disasters named Natural and Artificial Disasters were explained in detail.  
  2. Damages and losses being formed by disasters, their location, and times in what manner they may be occurred according to location and times.
  3. How shall we be prepared with fore warning before the occurrence of disaster. Fore warning Action named “preparedness” difference between the Risk and an incident. Hence Global Giving Aided project team delivered all must be ready to face the unexpected disaster. During the Disaster hit everybody must be ready without any partiality. And also we must have the kindness and humanity. It was emphasized.
  4. Disasters will come sometimes with the caution. Sometimes it will occur without any caution. If all of us with the preparedness, risks will not be altered as disaster and it will be an incident only. It was firmly emphasized.
  5. Weak location and vulnerable community such as women, children, Aged people, patients and alternative killed people shall be identified and kept safely.
  6. It was also informed to find the evacuation routes.
  7. Necessity of collection the emergency Phone Numbers of Fire Service and Recovery Dept., Police station, Hospital, Ambulance, Revenue Dept., Blood Bank, Home Guard squared, Red Cross Society, NGOs was emphasized.
  8. Trainees were asked to form the village Level Disaster Management Groups.
  9. It was also emphasized to provide Training by the experts of Fire service and Recovery Dept., Disaster Management Dept. for the village Level Disaster Management Groups.  

 Recovery and First Aid Training:

  1. Explanation with demonstration to carry disaster victims in what manner and they may be recovered.
  2. In what manner the Artificial Respiration may be provided to the people in the unconscious condition of the disaster affected. Such Demonstration was provided to the trainees.
  3.  In what manner bleeding may be controlled during the Disaster times for the injured people was demonstrated before the trainees.
  4. How can a team serve successfully without any fear and agitation. Such explanation was also given to the Trainees.
  5. Those who were injured during the disaster must be treated with humanity and much care. It must be observed in what manner they have been affected and what location and soon the First Aid Helps must be done without any delay and the Recovery works also must be done properly. The training was handled by Mr. A. Thamodaran project manager in the presence of Mrs. Valliammal, SHG leader. Finally Mr. S.P Dasan, Project co-ordinator delivered the vote of Thanks.
