     REPORT TITLE: TARGETED INTERVENTION FOR TECHNICAL STUDENTS

  PROJECT TITLE: FLOOD DISASTER RESPONSE AT TAMIL NADU, S. INDIA

 For Govt. Industrial Training Institute (I.T.I) Students Flood Disaster Management Awareness Training Programme was held with the Presidence of Superintendant, I.T.I in the presence of NSS Officer Industrial Training Institute Manager, Global Giving Project of Chevalier Roche Society participated in this Training Programme and offered the Training.

DURING THE TRAINING PROGRAMME FOLLOWING INFORMATION WERE OFFERED TO THE TRAINEES:  

Types of disasters named 1. Natural Disaster 2. Artificial Disaster was explained in detail to the students. Defects being formed of the disaster and the results were explained in detail. It was discussed about the Natural & Artificial disasters found during the past times in India. Loss of lives and loss of articles found in India during the past years by the disaster was discussed and deeply. It was explained in detail about the loss of numerous lives and material damages because of the lack of early warning announcement and activities particularly for the protection arrangement in schools and colleges. It was described in detail how the project plan in school or college level should be prepared in order to reduce loss of lives and material damages. It was explained in detail. Every day men are meeting numerous disturbances and harms. Particularly school and college students are facing many troubles in this regard. That is why need to expect extra protection for them. “Preparedness” differentiates the difference between great risk and an incident because it is a fore warning action. It was emphasized to the trainees that all of us must be. Troubles in building construction, Fire accident, Current leakage etc might affect the school or college. That is why we informed the troubles being met by schools and colleges were informed to them in detail. We must check the formation of buildings to avoid the damages by tremors, flood, cyclone, Tsunami huge flood and other disasters. For this purpose constructions of the schools and colleges must be evaluated necessity of receiving the certificates from Govt. offices about the safety of the buildings. It was explained in detail. Disasters being formed in this and outside the buildings of the schools and colleges were explained in detail. Importance of strengthening of construction in schools and colleges were explained in detail creating the awareness about the protection culture among the children, youth and teacher was also emphasized in detail. Natural disasters are unavoidable. But by taking the necessary actions to avoid the losses and the damages can be reduced. It was explained. In order to manage the disasters we must develop the skills of the children and making the schools and colleges as efficient ones by following the guidelines and advices. It was explained in detail. Preparation of school and colleges protection plan in Disaster Management was explained elaborately. In this regard following information was delivered. It was asked to prepare the Ven diagram with the particulars of class rooms, numbers of teachers and students, Auditorium, Entrance gate and keep with them. It was also asked to note the responsibility and actions to be taken during the occurrence of disasters. Trainees were asked to note the important and emergency phone numbers of Fire Service and Recovery Dept., Ambulance, Hospital, Blood Bank, Emergency Help Centre, School and college correspondents, Revenue Dept. officials, Social Service Organizations. And it must be displayed visibly to seen by the all common vulnerable community. It was informed that everyday must know arrangement for preparedness and simple First Aid methods. It was asked to give responsibilities to more than one or two persons. In order to fulfill the needs of the physically or mentally affected students. It was emphasized clearly to meet the needs of the above said students.

FIRST AID TRAINING:

It was informed about the importance of Traffic Rules to be followed during the travels by schools and college students. If fellow students are affected by the disaster what type of First Aid shall be provided to them? It was informed to them in detail. It was also taught to the trainees about the Artificial Respiration to be provided for the persons who are in unconscious condition with the practical demonstration. Out ward pressure to be given for the persons who are having weak heart was taught to the trainees with the practical demonstration. It was also demonstrated how we could make the bandage to a person who got injured on any part of the body or head and have the bleeding. That bleeding organ must be pressed tightly and a bandage must be made tightly surrounding the wound of the head or any body part.Also we must check the fracture of the person who had the injury and ha shall not move that body part. In that manner bandage shall be made. It was also demonstrated practically with the necessary explanation. It was also demonstrated practically if the bone fracture is found on hand or leg or below the knee or above the knee the bandage shall be made in what manner. It was explained in detail. It was demonstrated practically in what manner we should carry the disaster affected or accident met persons. Finally Field Staff GlobalGiving of Chevalier Roche Society delivered the vote of thanks and the training programme was accomplished successfully.
