Since Saturday, July 4, 2020, torrential rains in the southwestern island of Kyushu have caused flooding and landslides, killing 49 people with 11 missing (as of Jul 7). Over 1.22 million residents have been asked to evacuate from Kumamoto, Kagoshima, Fukuoka, Nagasaki, and Saga prefectures. The affected areas continue to be at high-risk for landslides and floods. Victims of this disaster have lost their homes and livelihoods and need immediate assistance.
Civic Force has dispatched search-and-rescue and medical personnel to the affected areas. The team will conduct rescue operations, provide medical assistance to victims, and distribute emergency relief supplies at evacuation centers.
This project will provide immediate relief to the victims of the floods and landslides - food, clean water, bedding, medical, and other supplies will be needed at evacuation centers throughout the area.
