The world is currently facing a severe food shortage, with children in poverty being the most vulnerable. Hunger not only stunts a child's growth and development, but it also affects their health and academic performance. In many cases, hunger forces children to be separated from their parents or guardians, which increases their risk of turning to the streets, engaging in theft, or being placed in institutions.
However, with your support, our Family Strengthening and Empowerment Program has made a significant difference. By equipping widows and vulnerable families with the tools they need to combat food insecurity, we are helping them stay together and thrive. Providing agricultural inputs has proven to be one of the most effective ways to tackle food shortages. As a result, children are able to stay in school, and families no longer face the devastating prospect of sending their children to institutions due to lack of food.
Last year, we distributed farm inputs to over 60 widows and 20 vulnerable families, directly benefiting 80 families and indirectly reaching more than 600 individuals. This year, we plan to expand our reach, aiming to support 90 widows and 30 families. These families will receive vital supplies, including fertilizers (DAP for planting and CAN for top dressing) and seeds, as well as training to ensure they can produce enough food to sustain themselves throughout the year. Additionally, they are engaging in savings programs, which will allow them to continue purchasing fertilizers for the next three years after receiving support.
We humbly request that you help spread the word about this life-changing initiative. By sharing our work with your friends, you can help us reach even more widows and prevent the separation of children from their families, ultimately lifting them out of poverty. Together, we can make a lasting impact.
