Dear Donors and Supporters,
We hope this letter finds you well. We are excited to share updates on the progress of the Feathers of Hope Chicken Farm. Over the past few months, we have experienced both significant successes and challenges that have shaped the path forward for this impactful project.
Our primary aim remains twofold: to generate a sustainable profit to support our charity and to provide a healthy, nutritious, and organic food supply to our most vulnerable communities. Thanks to your generous support, we’ve already made a remarkable difference. Previously, many families had to travel to neighboring villages for chicken and eggs, but now even children from impoverished families can access this vital source of protein right in their community.
We’ve faced obstacles, including mice attacking chicks, reduced egg production from layers, and the rising cost of chicken feed. In response, we’ve implemented several measures: setting up rat traps and poison, adjusting the layers’ feed, and transitioning to raising village chickens instead of broilers. Village chickens are more resilient, cost-effective, and healthier, aligning with our mission of sustainability.
Despite these challenges, the farm is successfully supplying chicken to our café and to impoverished widows, orphans, and children of single-parent families. Our next goal is to achieve profitability to fund other essential projects like building toilets, wells, and rainwater harvesting units in underserved schools and communities.
Your continued generosity ensures that we can overcome these hurdles and reach our goals. Thank you for your unwavering support and belief in our mission.
With gratitude,
