WOW Tanzania aims to provide safe, affordable housing for impoverished widows with children, orphans, street children, and single-parent families in need. Through building, renovating, and renting homes, we restore dignity, stability, and hope for those living in extreme poverty. This project not only transforms lives but also strengthens the community by creating jobs and promoting sustainability. Together, we're building brighter futures for the poorest families in the poorest countries.
The housing need in Tanzania is estimated to be 3 million units with an annual increase of 200,000 units (Shelter Afrique). The existence of house deficit is very high with consideration of the bad quality of houses and lack of important services like water and electricity. Moreover, income levels of most households in Tanzania are too low; 90% of the population can afford less than $45 on housing per month, and 68% can afford less than $23 per month (Housing Market Study, Tanzania, 2012).
We seek to alleviate housing poverty in Tanzania by improving the standard of living of low-income families via the construction of (or repairs leading to) decent and affordable homes. We will provide vital employment opportunities to members of the community who have limited skills or formal education but display motivation and commitment towards their personal growth and the overall development of the community.
This project will provide affordable and eco-friendly housing, giving vulnerable families safe, durable, and dignified homes. It will strengthen communities by fostering collaboration, resilience, and a sense of shared responsibility. Through access to skill development and training programs, WOW Tanzania will empower individuals, nurture human capital, and equip families with the tools they need for long-term self-sufficiency. Together, these efforts will create lasting change.
