Through the Keep Her in School Program, baking and food processing will equip girls with practical, marketable skills that can contribute to their education, household wellbeing, and future economic independence. Training in bread, cakes, snacks, and other nutritious food products will give girls hands-on experience that can be transformed into small businesses and employment opportunities.
Beyond baking, participants will learn food hygiene, safe handling, packaging, pricing, customer care, basic record keeping, and marketing. These complementary skills will help them understand not only how to produce quality products, but also how to turn their skills into sustainable income-generating opportunities.
The impact will extend beyond individual girls. As trained young women begin small enterprises or secure employment, they can contribute to household incomes, support their families, and create opportunities for others within their communities. Increased economic resilience can also reduce some of the financial pressures that contribute to girls dropping out of school.
Most importantly, the activity connects education with practical livelihood preparation. It gives girls a reason to envision a future beyond poverty and equips them with skills they can continue building after completing school.
For the community, this is an investment in a generation of skilled, confident, and economically empowered young women who can become entrepreneurs, employees, mentors, and contributors to local economic development.
