Uganda struggles with persistently high school dropout rates, with over 40% of pupils dropping out before completing primary school. This issue disproportionately affects girls in rural areas due to pervasive poverty, early marriage, teenage pregnancy, and inadequate access to essential needs like sanitary facilities. These barriers limit opportunities for young women and perpetuate a cycle of poverty and inequality.
In the community 6 out of 10 girls dropout of school in primary level, and 4 out of 6 dropouts are exposed to child marriage. This is because of poverty from their parents, and so they're married off for bride price and, others face lack of essential needs like sanitary towels, clothes, food . Child marriage has effectively rob off girl's child hood curtail their education. Therefore lack of education and economic opportunities, her family is likely to face poverty cycle.
Together with community leaders , parents will learn positive outcomes of girl child schooling through training, community awareness dialogues. Will engage community leaders and traditional leaders authorities to promote the value of education and discourage early marriages. Equip girl's parents with income generating knowledge and skills , provide them with financial capital according to their work skills that is to say farmers with seeds, poultry for every vulnerable girl's family
This project will prevent school dropouts and early marriage for at least 1500girls, assist community leaders and local councils to emphasize the protection of girls and bring back hope to the victim ones , allocate resources, vocational skills and economic opportunities to girls at risk and to the married girls. Empowered and educated girl are one who can make informed decisions, self-reliance and educate their children, preventing future dropouts and eradicate poverty rates in our community.
