Today, Karitas Relief Mission continued preparations for the implementation of the Empowering Girls with Sewing Machines project. The project aims to provide girls with practical tailoring and sewing skills that can help them become self-reliant, improve their livelihoods, and create opportunities for income generation.
Meeting with Staff, Directors, and Girls
Today, we held a meeting with members of staff, directors, and some of the girls who are interested in joining the skills-training program. The meeting gave us an opportunity to discuss the progress of the project, the training arrangements, and the expectations of the girls who are eager to begin learning.
During the meeting, the girls shared their hopes and expectations about acquiring sewing and tailoring skills. Many of them expressed how eager they are to begin their training and how they believe these skills will help them build a better future.
Inspection of the Training Classrooms
Following the meeting, we inspected the classrooms where the girls will receive their training. The inspection helped us assess the learning environment and prepare the classrooms for the beginning of the skills-training activities.
We are encouraged by the progress being made toward creating a suitable and supportive environment where the girls can learn practical skills.
Girls' Challenges and Commitment
Some of the girls explained that although they are very eager to acquire sewing and tailoring skills, they currently lack the financial resources needed to begin their studies. Their stories showed us that there is a genuine demand for this program and that financial challenges remain one of the major barriers preventing some girls from accessing vocational training.
We encouraged the girls not to lose hope. We assured them that whenever the necessary support becomes available, they will be welcomed to join the program and begin their studies. Their willingness to learn has strengthened our commitment to finding the resources needed to make this opportunity available to them.
Progress and Next Steps
Today's activities were an important step toward launching the training program. Meeting with the staff, directors, and girls and inspecting the classrooms allowed us to better understand the preparations still required before training begins.
Our next steps include continuing to mobilize resources for sewing machines, training materials, and other necessities so that more girls can access the program. We also intend to continue engaging with the girls and supporting them as they prepare to begin their training.
Conclusion
Today's meeting reminded us that the girls have a strong desire to learn and improve their lives, but many are held back by a lack of financial resources. Karitas Relief Mission remains committed to ensuring that these girls are given an opportunity to acquire practical sewing and tailoring skills.
We are grateful to all supporters who are helping make this project possible. With continued support, more girls will be able to move from vulnerability to skills, confidence, and greater economic independence.
