Jobortunity’smissionis: disadvantaged youth,  aged  18  to  25,  secure decent employment in companies,  feel professionally fulfilled in their working environment, and live balanced and meaningful lives.  In addition,  we contribute to overcoming the skills gap between youth  (with and without formal education)  and companies’  employability needs.  We provide companies with professional staff to strengthen the service industry in Tanzania.

Jobortunity’swider vision is: that young people can provide a dignified livelihood for themselves, support their families, and impact their communities positively and sustainably.

 Jobortunity's Strategic Goals 1st September 2019 – 31 December 2024 are:

  1. We   run  a  successful  and recognized in-house   TOY  (Training  of  Youth) program for disadvantaged youth
  2. We have an innovative student/graduate tracking and organization-database system

  4. We reach more youth through the expansion of the Hi5 approachincollaborationwithpartnersinthe

            social sector(public and private).

      5. We expand ourHi5 approach towards the for-profit sector to enhance self-reliance

      6. We run our operations in a youth hub shared with like-minded and compatible organizations and companies.

       7. We are a social business with a well-functioning team based on the principlesofHi5

General comments (describe how we see the progress in general in the past 3 months):

  1. Training of Youth (TOY)Program:

The overall progress of the Training of Youth is great; We have 62 students from classes in 2022. Both classes of 2021 have graduated after completing the apprenticeship program.

  • How many students are in the TOY: Currently our Training of youth (TOY) program has 122 students; 30 students in Class 2021A,27students in Class 2021B, and 32 students in Class 2022A which joined on 17th January 2022, and 33 students in the Class 2022B who started on 11th July 2022.
  • How many students have graduated since 2009: In 2022, 2 classes have graduatedthatisClass2021Awhere30studentsgraduatedon11thMarch, and Class of 2021B graduated on 9th September. Which brings a total of 590 graduates since2009.
  • How many dropped out in the past 9 months: 7 students dropped out due to family challenges, misconduct, and unable to work out of feedback in apprenticeship. All of them have an opportunity to return to Jobortunity whenever they are ready.
  • How many graduates have jobs:75%

We are hoping that more partner companies will reach out for the on-the-job training since the tourism industry has retrieved and the number of tourists is raising compare to the last two years. This means Hotels, lodges, and restaurants are hiring new staff who needs skills training or refresher courses to fit into the industry.

          3.  E-Learning Platform:

Panta Media and a local partner Texto Media Group are ready to guide us and develop the materials like films and software. Over the cause of three months, we have worked with both media teams to develop scripts, identify actors and locations and produce clips to incorporate into the platform. The next step is to add Hi5 lesson content to the platform.
