Jobortunity Training of Youth Program Update

By Anande Nnko | Managing Director

EMPOWER 100 TANZANIAN YOUTH THROUGH EDUCATION QUARTERLY REPORT.

Jobortunity resumed the office on January 9th, 2023. The excitement of wishing each other’ warm new year wishes came with the joy to reunite with our students from class 2022A and 2022B from the apprenticeship program. It’s one of the best moments for both students and staff in our organization.

As you know, our Training of Youth (TOY) Program comes is one year course; 4 months of intensive in-house training and 8 months of practising learning by doing in our partner companies through an apprenticeship program. Our centre is a safe space for vulnerable youth.

A class 2022A started their learn-by-doing program last June while class 2022B joined apprenticeship in mid-November 2022. Returning to the centre after 6 weeks in the different service industry, students get to learn more lessons to sharpen their skills, opportunity to share a lot of successful stories among their peers, describe events that sparked their learning, get feedback from the partner companies, and  identify their personal areas of improvement that they work closely with their special trainers.

By end of January, class 2023A got enrolled and started their professional development journey through the Hi5 approach. Yeeey! This means more opportunities for us to support 33 vulnerable youth in our community and more Jobortunity family in the making. So far, they have learned Orientation lessons, Professionalism module, and are looking forward to starting computer lessons on March 6th (which is another touching story altogether we will update you on in the next report).

We are energtic to start the year because we know you are with us. Thank you for supporting our mission and please keep being our good ambassador. Together we can make changes in youth lives.
